Top Ten Tuesday #108

1fe45-toptentuesday

Hi everyone! I hope you’ve all had a great week. My mum was up visiting last weekend, so it was nice to get to spend some time with her. I’m heading home from Uni for the summer next Friday, so this week is just going to be a whole lot of packing, which I’m not going to lie, I’m not exactly looking forward to! Anyway, I’m back this week with another Top Ten Tuesday, courtesy of the lovely ladies over at The Broke and The Bookish. This week’s topic is a Summer Reads freebie, but as I’m not big on the traditional beach read (fluffy contemporaries aren’t really my thing), I’m going to share the Top Ten Books on My Summer TBR. I’m not always great at sticking to a TBR list (I’ve read 6 1/2 of the books on my Spring TBR out of 10, which I suppose isn’t bad) but these are the books I’m hoping to read this summer:

  1. Under Rose Tainted Skies-Louise Gornall

Okay so this was on my Spring TBR, but honestly I wasn’t intending on reading it until June anyway! I’m planning a YALC Reading Challenge for June and July where I read books that I either acquired at YALC or books by YALC authors (more info coming on that very soon!), so this works well for that as I got it at YALC last year and it’s also on my #RockMyTBR list, so I’ll be killing two birds with one stone.

2. Frozen Charlotte-Alex Bell

I wasn’t planning on reading this one until October as I thought it would make a good Halloween read, but it’s on my #RockMyTBR list and it’s a book I got from YALC, so reading it in July would again kill two birds with one stone.

3. Resurrection-Derek Landy

I AM SO EXCITED FOR THE NEW SKULDUGGERY PLEASANT BOOK, I CAN’T EVEN! I will definitely be reading this as soon as I get it!

4. Six of Crows-Leigh Bardugo

This is another book on my #RockMyTBR list, I think I’ll be reading it in August. I’ve heard so many great things about this book, so I can’t wait to see what all the fuss is about!

5. Daughter of Smoke and Bone-Laini Taylor

Laini Taylor is going to be at YALC this year, and so I reckon this summer is a perfect time to finally get around to reading this book! I’ve heard great things, and my friend absolutely loves this series, so I have a good feeling about this book.

6. The Bone Season-Samantha Shannon

Samantha Shannon is also going to be at YALC this year, so again, I think it’s a great time to finally get around to reading her book. My friend also loves Samantha Shannon’s books and we have very similar tastes, so I’m hopeful that I will enjoy this book!

7. One of Us Is Lying-Karen McManus

Karen McManus is also going to be at YALC this year, and I got approved for One of Us Is Lying, so I will definitely try to get around to it before then. The Breakfast Club meets Pretty Little Liars? Sounds so good!

8. Flame In The Mist-Renee Ahdieh

Okay this is kind of a cheat as I’m reading it at the moment, but I’m not even halfway through yet, so I’ll probably be reading it through the summer!

9. The Love Interest-Cale Dietrich

I just got this after winning it in a giveaway, so I will definitely try to read it over the summer, as I love the idea of turning the love triangle trope on it’s head!

10. A VE Schwab book

Okay so this one is kind of vague, but I’m not really sure which of her books I want to read next, I just know that I will likely want a Schwab fix over the summer!

I’m going to stick to just 10 this week as I have a hard time sticking to TBRs anyway, let alone with more than 10 books on them! What are you planning to read over the summer? Do we share any? Any other UK bloggers/readers planning on going to YALC? Let me know in the comments!

Next week’s list is our Top Ten Most Anticipated Books for the rest of 2017, and there are so many great books coming out in the second half of 2017 that I’m excited to share with you guys, so I’m really looking forward to that. In the meantime, I’m planning a discussion post to post tomorrow, so stay tuned for that!

Frozen Charlotte is amazing. I’d say definitely read it in summer because it is seriously creepy!
A YALC reading challenge sounds a fab idea – as much as I read I never seem to have read more than half of the authors? So excited for it already!

That’s good to hear! Thanks! Yes, I have the same problem. Me too. I will have the details for the challenge up hopefully by the end of this week, definitely by the beginning of next week, so if you want to take part then keep an eye out!

Great list! Six of Crows is on my TBR as well! I was hoping to read Flame in the Mist before summer as well but we’ll see! I really enjoy Laini Taylor’s books, I hope you will too! Have a great week and happy reading!

    • iloveheartlandx 23/05/2017 / 5:11 pm

Thanks! I hope we both enjoy that one then. Yeah me too, but I don’t think I will, since I go home for summer holidays in just over a week. I’m glad to hear that, I hope so too.

  3. journeyintobooks 23/05/2017 / 5:04 pm

Great list, Under Rose Tainted Skies sounds so good and I can’t wait to read Flame in the Mist.

    • iloveheartlandx 23/05/2017 / 5:13 pm

Thanks! Yes it does. I haven’t really gotten into Flame in the Mist yet, but I’m sure it gets better.

  4. Beth (Reading Every Night) 23/05/2017 / 5:04 pm

These are all amazing picks for a summer TBR list. Samantha Shannon is one of my favourite authors so I hope you love her Bone Season series. Also yes, I’m so excited to see Laini Taylor at YALC as well! 🙂

  5. Arika (onceuponabookishnerd) 23/05/2017 / 5:41 pm

I definitely want to read a V.E. Schwab book too! I have heard such good things, I hope her work is as good as everyone is saying!

  6. midwesternbooknerd 23/05/2017 / 5:57 pm

You seem like you have some excellent books ahead of you this summer (SIX OF CROWS!) and quite a few that are on my list (once I make my list…). Hope you get to them all!

  7. bookgirlsecrets 23/05/2017 / 7:20 pm

Great picks! I keep hearing such buzz over One of Us Is Lying, which makes me worry it’s not going to live up to it, but I’m so looking forward to it. I’ve never read a V.E. Schwab book, but I may have to now!

    • iloveheartlandx 23/05/2017 / 9:56 pm

Thanks! Yes so do I, which does make me a little nervous, but it sounds so good. Oh you definitely should, her books are amazing.

    • iloveheartlandx 23/05/2017 / 9:55 pm

Well that’s good to hear! So have I, so let’s hope we both enjoy it 🙂

  8. Louise 23/05/2017 / 8:17 pm

  9. tumbling into wonderland 23/05/2017 / 9:17 pm

I’m currently reading One of Us Is Lying and so far so good! I’ve heard loads of great things about it. I have Daughter of Smoke and The Bone Season on my kindle and really want to read Flame in the Mist so let us know if it’s worth reading!

    • iloveheartlandx 23/05/2017 / 9:54 pm

That’s great! I definitely will let you know if Flame In The Mist is any good once I’m done.

  11. Jessica @ a GREAT read 23/05/2017 / 9:32 pm

Ooh nice picks! Lots of new to me ones, though I did enjoy Flame in the Mist! I struggled with a bit because I read it electronically and didn’t know about the glossary until the end, nor would’ve I had easy access to it. Loved Six of Crows as well, I will recommend having Crooked Kingdom at the ready though because there’s a set of dicey cliffhangers! Hope you enjoy all of these this summer!

Thanks for visiting my TTT post!

    • iloveheartlandx 23/05/2017 / 9:53 pm

Thanks! There’s a glossary in Flame In The Mist? I’m reading it electronically as well and I’m finding all the Japanese words so confusing! Well that’s good to hear, I’ll have to try and get my hands on a copy of Crooked Kingdom as soon as I’m done. Thank you! No problem 🙂

  12. thebookishlibra 23/05/2017 / 10:46 pm

Great list! I’m actually planning to read Six of Crows this summer too 🙂

  13. Alicia @ A Kernel of Nonsense 23/05/2017 / 11:31 pm

Six of Crows is so wonderful. I hope you enjoy. I really want to read Under Rose Tainted Skies as well. I’ve heard nothing but wonderful things. Happy reading!

    • iloveheartlandx 24/05/2017 / 9:27 am

That’s great to hear, I hope so too! Yes, everyone seems to love it, so I have high hopes for that one. Thanks 🙂

    • iloveheartlandx 24/05/2017 / 9:25 am

Thanks! Ah yes, the Shades of Magic books will make a perfect binge 🙂

  14. Zezee 24/05/2017 / 3:43 am

Lol at a VE Schwab book. I should have placed that on my TBR too because I’d like to read one of her books to see what all the hype’s about.

    • iloveheartlandx 24/05/2017 / 9:23 am

What can I say? I’m indecisive and love her books, so I don’t know what I’m going to be in the mood for. You should definitely read the Shades of Magic books, they’re amazing!

  15. Greg Hill 24/05/2017 / 4:55 am

I’m looking forward to One Of Us Is Lying and Under Rose- Tainted Skies, those are two I definitely want to get to this summer!

  16. Lucy C 24/05/2017 / 8:15 am

Well that’s great to hear, I hope I like them as much as you did!

  17. Maraia 24/05/2017 / 10:15 am

Daughter of Smoke and Bone is one of my favorite trilogies! I really hope you love it. I’m also a huuuuge Victoria Schwab fan. Which ones do you have left to read?

Great list! I almost made a list of paranormal romance books list but I mostly read contemporaries in summer but they’re not the fluffy ones, hope you still check out my YA/NA books list and see if you find something you like.

  21. Ashley 24/05/2017 / 12:34 pm

The Bone Season is SOOOOO good! I love that series so much. I still need to read the third book though. I LOVED One of Us Is Lying so much. It was so good. I can’t wait to get my hands on Flame in the Mist. I am going to BookCon, so I may just buy a copy while I am there. I really need to read Six of Crows too!

    • iloveheartlandx 24/05/2017 / 3:00 pm

That’s great to hear, I hope I love it as much as you do, and One of Us Is Lying too. I hope you enjoy Flame In The Mist. I’m glad I’m not the only one who hasn’t read Six of Crows yet!

  22. Poinsettia 24/05/2017 / 1:02 pm

I’ve not read any of these books. I’ve heard a lot of good things about VE Schwab though, so I might have to check some of her books out. Here is my Top Ten Tuesday

Good luck with your TBR! Six of Crows is so amazing, I absolutely love it and I hope you will too!

  26. Holly 25/05/2017 / 11:21 am

I’ve been thinking of reading The Bone Season for a while because I’ve heard great things about it. It seems like the kind of mix of fantasy/action that I usually like, so hopefully I’ll pick it up at some point this summer. Great list! 🙂

    • iloveheartlandx 25/05/2017 / 7:01 pm

I have too! It does sound fantastic, so hopefully we both like it. Thanks 🙂

  27. Annemieke 27/05/2017 / 5:47 pm

I hope you’ll like Six of Crows. I loved it.

    • iloveheartlandx 29/05/2017 / 7:34 pm

Totally understand that, I usually go with a friend. It really isn’t too bad, everyone is so friendly and you wind up talking to total strangers in signing lines anyway because you like the same authors! You should definitely still take part in the challenge if you want though, it’s not just for people actually going to YALC, anyone can join 🙂

  28. Elena @ Book Lady's Reviews 29/05/2017 / 10:24 am

Great list! Can’t wait to read the Bone Season which has been on my TBR for ages! And One of Us is Lying is on the top of my most anticipated reads list so, hopefully, I’ll be able to get my hands on it soon! Hope you have a wonderful week!

    • iloveheartlandx 29/05/2017 / 7:32 pm

Thank you! Yeah it’s been on mine for ages too, I bought it last summer. I hope you manage to get it soon too. Thanks 🙂

  29. ravishingtales 01/06/2017 / 8:19 am

OMG this is such a great list! I’m totally with you, fluffy contemporary romance aren’t my type either. Hope you can stick to this TBR because the books are really awesome and you’re gonna love them!

    • iloveheartlandx 01/06/2017 / 9:51 am

Thanks! I hope so, I read 13 books last summer, so this list shouldn’t be too hard to get through 🙂
