Top Ten Tuesday #33

This week’s topic is meant to be 2016 Debut Novels That I’m Looking Forward To, but to be honest, I haven’t really been keeping up with who has a debut novel coming out in 2016 and most of the books from 2016 that I’m looking forward to are sequels, so instead of doing that, I’ve chosen a topic from the TTT archives to do and the topic I’ve chosen is Top Ten Books That I’m Dying To Read. I have so many of these, so many books on my bookshelf that I’m really excited for but have yet to read, but isn’t it always the way with us book lovers?! Anyway, these are the books that I am currently dying to read.

  1. Ink And Bone by Rachel Caine-I’ve been looking forward to this one for ages, I’ve heard such good things and I’ve had it since July, but Queen of Shadows took precedence over this one in my reading order because I just had to read that one as soon as possible! Still, I’m really excited for this one because it sounds fabulous and it’s probably going to be my next read.
  2. Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard-I’ve heard some mixed things about this one, but I always love a good fantasy book, so I’m hoping that I will be in the camp that loves this one rather than the camp that hates it!
  3. Graceling by Kristin Cashore-This sounds like exactly the kind of book I’d love, but for whatever reason I just haven’t got around to it yet. I’ve heard some really great things about it though, so I’m really excited to read it (when I finally get around to it!).
  4. Demon Road by Derek Landy-It’s always slightly nerve wracking when you read a new book by an author whose already written a series that you’ve loved, but I am really excited to read this because it sounds like it’s going to be a lot of fun (who wouldn’t want to read about a demon road trip?!) and I haven’t had a good Derek Landy fix since the last Skulduggery Pleasant book came out and that needs to rectified as soon as humanly possible!
  5. Magnus Chase: The Sword of Summer by Rick Riordan-I wasn’t entirely sure whether I was going to get this one or not, since I’ve never read anything by Rick Riordan which didn’t feature Percy (I didn’t read The Kane Chronicles basically), but I’d heard some encouraging things and when I found a signed copy of it in my local Waterstones, I just had to get it. I’m mixed excited and nervous to read this, I just want it to be good! I don’t want my opinion of Rick Riordan to become tarnished!
  6. The Accident Season by Moira Fowley-Doyle-Again, a book I’ve heard some mixed things about, but the premise of the book about a family cursed with a season of mysterious accidents sounded like a lot of fun, so I hope that my gut instinct that this book will be good is right!
  7. Challenger Deep by Neal Shusterman-I finally own this! I just bought it over the weekend and I’ve been wanting to read it for basically the entire year (though I won’t get to it until next year!). I’ve heard some amazing things, so I hope this book is as amazing as everyone says it is.
  8. Unbound by Neal Shusterman-A new installment in the Unwind dystology? How could I not be excited for this one? I’ve pre-ordered it, which is something I almost never do, so that shows you all how excited I am. Two more weeks until this arrives! I cannot wait!
  9. Snow Like Ashes by Sara Raasch-Another one that I bought over the weekend! I’m really excited for this one, even though I’ve heard some mixed reviews because it sounds really great and I would love to have another high fantasy world to read about!
  10. The Glory by Lauren St John-I haven’t read a horse book in a while, so I’m quite excited to read another one and it’s nice sometimes to break up the fantasy and dystopia with some different genres of books!

I actually managed to keep it to ten this week! Who’s impressed? What books are you dying to read at the moment? What 2016 debuts did you choose if you did the actual topic this week? Let me know!

So that’s my post for this week, I will be back next week, the topic is Top Ten New-To-Me Favourite Authors That I Read For The First Time In 2015, but unfortunately, I am not able to do that topic as I only read books from 4 new to me authors and of those four, only one I really liked, so I will have to choose another topic from the archives for you guys. You’ll have to wait and see what it is though! In the meantime, I should hopefully have a new Wishlist Wednesday post for you guys tomorrow, so look out for that!

Well done on keeping it to 10! I rarely ever manage to do that myself haha. I’m quite curious about Red Queen and Snow Like Ashes too! I’ve been seeing them mentioned a lot around the blogosphere, and they seem really interesting.

    • iloveheartlandx 02/12/2015 / 10:17 am

Yeah, it’s very rare that I manage it either! Yeah they do, don’t they? Hopefully they are as good as described!

  2. Zhana @ Confessions of an addict 02/12/2015 / 1:33 pm

“Red Queen” is on my TBR as well. I already own the book, but can’t seem to find any time to read it…too many other books are distracting me πŸ˜€

  3. Evie 02/12/2015 / 8:19 pm

I enjoyed Snow Like Ashes so I hope you do too! I’m so looking forward to Ink and Bone as well. It’s been on my TBR for a few months but I’m hoping I’ll get it for Christmas!

    • iloveheartlandx 02/12/2015 / 8:25 pm

Thanks! I hope so too! Yeah Ink and Bone sounds great doesn’t it? Hope you get it for Christmas!

      • Evie 04/12/2015 / 1:23 am

        Haha, thanks!

  4. Alexandra @ Literary Legionnaire 03/12/2015 / 12:15 am

I have read none of these (except for Red Queen, which I had mixed feelings about), but I definitely want to read most of them! Great book selection! πŸ™‚

    • iloveheartlandx 03/12/2015 / 8:08 am

Thanks! Sad to hear you had mixed feelings about Red Queen but that does seem to be the general consensus on it, so I guess I will just have to read it and see what I think. I hope we both enjoy these books!

  5. samoak 03/12/2015 / 1:17 pm

Great list! I still need to get around to reading the Red Queen as well. I hope you enjoy all these when you get around to reading them. πŸ˜€

    • iloveheartlandx 03/12/2015 / 1:19 pm

Thanks! I hope so too, might take me a while to get through all of these!

  6. Jenna @ Reading with Jenna 03/12/2015 / 1:48 pm

Snow Like Ashes is one of my all-time favourites so I hope you get to it soon πŸ™‚ I loved it so much! I also bought Challenger Deep last week after it won the National Book Award! I know it’s going to be amazing and I can’t wait!

    • iloveheartlandx 03/12/2015 / 2:20 pm

I hope so too! I know, I’ve heard such good things about Challenger Deep, so I’m really excited to get to it. I hope we both love it!

  7. Josephine 03/12/2015 / 2:36 pm

I want to read the Red Queen as well. Great picks!

  8. fiddlerblue 03/12/2015 / 3:35 pm

Oooh I heard Demon Road is supposed to be good πŸ™‚ I’m hoping I’d get Red Queen this Christmas *crossed fingers* I hope you enjoy Snow Like Ashes! πŸ˜€

    • iloveheartlandx 03/12/2015 / 3:36 pm

Glad to hear that! I haven’t read any reviews of it, because I want to go in without expectations. I’m crossing my fingers for you too, that you get Red Queen this Christmas! I hope so too! It sounds exactly like the sort of book I’d love, so I have high hopes.

      • fiddlerblue 03/12/2015 / 5:21 pm

Then I hope you are in for a great surprise when you read them (Demon Road and Snow Like Ashes, both) Thanks! πŸ˜€

      • iloveheartlandx 04/12/2015 / 12:02 am

Always like that! It’s better to have no expectations and be pleasantly surprised than have high expectations and be disappointed, I feel!

  9. Brittany 03/12/2015 / 3:59 pm

I want to read The Accident Season and I started Red Queen, but never finished. It wasn’t bad, I just got distracted by other things. My favorite on this list has to be Snow Like Ashes. I have to know what happens next. The sequel will probably be the next book I buy. Happy reading!

    • iloveheartlandx 03/12/2015 / 4:01 pm

Yeah, Accident Season sounds good doesn’t it? That happens to me all the time, I get distracted by all the other pretty books I have! Hope you get back to it soon. Glad to hear you liked Snow Like Ashes and hope I like as much! Thank you!

  10. Thechroniclesofabookworm 03/12/2015 / 5:02 pm

I’m looking forward to reading Red Queen, The accident season and Magnus chase! oh and Snow like Ashes. Happy reading!

  11. Julia 03/12/2015 / 9:10 pm

Red Queen is really good- definitely go for it!

    • iloveheartlandx 04/12/2015 / 12:01 am

Glad to hear it! Hopefully will get around to it at some point in the new year!

  12. Becca W 03/12/2015 / 9:15 pm

I loved Graceling, definitely a recommended read!

  13. @lynnsbooks 03/12/2015 / 9:36 pm

I read the first Shusterman novel and loved it – I have to read the rest – not sure how many there are or how far behind I am though!
I also want to read Ink and Bone – and in fact I think I already bought it – yep, just went to check – I really need to keep a better note of what I’ve bought!
    Lynn πŸ˜€

    • iloveheartlandx 04/12/2015 / 12:01 am

There are four books in the Unwind series and a fifth to be released in a few weeks (if that’s what you read, he has a lot of other books!). Yeah, I always do that, think I need to buy something and then discover I have a copy on my shelf! I need a better system for organising my books!

  14. Dreams 04/12/2015 / 3:00 am

You cheated this week, but that’s okay. I only knew two myself. (Thank heavens for cobloggers.) And I only found out those two were debuts quite recently.

I only read two of your books myself. Graceling was interesting and I enjoyed it but I don’t think it lived up to the hype. Sadly I DNF Ink and Bones, it just wasn’t able to capture my attention.

Hope you get to read all those books soon!

    • iloveheartlandx 04/12/2015 / 9:20 am

I literally did only know two debut novels coming out next year and I didn’t think that would make a very good list! Sometimes when making these lists I wish I had co-bloggers, more people to think of stuff for it! That’s good to hear, I hope I’ll like Graceling and Ink and Bone more than you did. I hope so too! Might be a while though, I have so many books to be read on my shelf at the moment!

  15. Shon @ Tangled 'N' Books 04/12/2015 / 6:06 am

Great list! I love Red Queen. Magnus Chase: The Sword of Summer is on my TBR.

    Thanks for the visit! πŸ™‚

    • iloveheartlandx 04/12/2015 / 9:18 am

Thanks! Glad to hear that you liked Red Queen. Hope we both like Magnus Chase! No problem!

  16. Alice Rose Simmons 04/12/2015 / 7:18 pm

Great list! I enjoyed The Accident Season and I’m also thinking about picking up Challenger Deep soon. Thanks for checking out my blog!

    • iloveheartlandx 04/12/2015 / 7:19 pm

Thanks! Glad to hear you enjoyed The Accident Season. Let me know what you think of Challenger Deep, because you’ll probably get to it before I do! No problem.

  17. Alyce @ Everything Alyce 04/12/2015 / 8:06 pm

I like the fact that you’re doing TTT’s from the archive – it might be something I need to do next time I have a topic that I’m struggling with! I didn’t realise Neal Shusterman’s series was still getting novels released, that gives me even more reason to catch up with it. I’m also very excited about Snow Like Ashes.
    Great list! πŸ™‚

    • iloveheartlandx 04/12/2015 / 8:22 pm

Yeah, I figure since I only started doing it this year and I’m not particularly creative when it comes to topics, whenever there’s one I can’t do, I just go back to the archives and see what previously-done topics take my fancy! Yeah, this is the last one I think and it’s just a collection of short stories from the Unwind universe, but I love it so much that I’ll take whatever I can get! You definitely should try to catch up with it! Snow Like Ashes does sound brilliant, doesn’t it? Thank you!

  18. Beth (Reading Every Night) 05/12/2015 / 12:07 am

Great picks. I’ve read Ink and Bone, Snow Like Ashes, and Red Queen (and am eagerly awaiting the second books in the series) and I loved them all, hopefully you’ll enjoy them just as much πŸ™‚

    • iloveheartlandx 05/12/2015 / 4:22 pm

Thanks! Glad to hear that you enjoyed them, and I also hope that I enjoy them as much as you did!

  19. Alicia @ A Kernel of Nonsense 05/12/2015 / 12:54 am

Graceling is awesome and I just love the Accident Season. If you’re into magical realism, then you’ll like this one. Nice list!

  20. Michelle @ In Libris Veritas 05/12/2015 / 3:54 pm

Magnus Chase is sitting on my shelf begging me to make time for it, and I want to so badly, lol. I’ve read Red Queen and it was a fun one, nothing I hadn’t seen elsewhere but enjoyable anyway.

    • iloveheartlandx 05/12/2015 / 4:23 pm

Same here! It’s just so big and I have so many other books to read that I haven’t managed to make time for yet! Glad to hear that about Red Queen, that seems to be people’s general consensus, nothing original but enjoyable anyway.

  21. betwixt-these-pages 05/12/2015 / 9:02 pm

I just started Red Queen this morning; I bought it before all the mixed reviews started rolling in, and feel I owe it at the very least an attempt at a read! Fingers crossed I enjoy it.

The Accident Season is on my need to read as soon as I possibly can list; I’ve been SUPER excited about that one since hearing about it before its debut!

    • iloveheartlandx 05/12/2015 / 9:50 pm

I hope you (and I) both enjoy it! It sounds brilliant doesn’t it? Just hope it lives up to the expectations in my head!

      • betwixt-these-pages 05/12/2015 / 10:23 pm

Right? I know a lot of people have been disappointed with how similar it is to various other YA recent releases, but I tend not to notice that sort of thing unless it’s really blatantly obvious.:)

      • iloveheartlandx 06/12/2015 / 1:25 pm

Yeah me either. There’s similarities in all YA releases to a certain extent so as long as it’s not really blatantly obvious, I probably won’t have a problem with it!

  22. ChrissiReads 05/12/2015 / 9:13 pm

I need to get to reading some of these!

  23. Kelly 05/12/2015 / 10:46 pm

I haven’t gotten to Magnus Chase yet either, but I know I won’t be able to resist forever…

  24. thecrazybookworm 06/12/2015 / 7:00 pm

Great list! Looking forward to all these books now too! So excited for the new year to roll around because aaah! So many promising titles are coming!
Thanks for dropping by my blog! x

    • iloveheartlandx 06/12/2015 / 9:49 pm

Thanks! Yeah, it sounds like 2016 is going to be a great year for books!

  25. Literary Feline 06/12/2015 / 8:19 pm

Red Queen really interests me as well, even despite the mixed reviews. Hopefully if we read it, we’ll both end up on the side that likes it. I am also curiou about Ink And Bone. I read several of Caine’s books last year and really enjoyed them. Great list!

    • iloveheartlandx 06/12/2015 / 9:49 pm

Yeah, it does sound good. I hope we both like it too! I’ve never read any of Caine’s other books but Ink and Bone does sound good. Thank you!

  26. Erika 06/12/2015 / 9:04 pm

Red Queen is amazing! Great list πŸ™‚

  27. shannonmiz 06/12/2015 / 11:50 pm

The Accident Season was incredible, I hope you get to read it soon! And UNBOUND!!! The second I heard about it I pre-ordered it! I mean, MORE of the Unwind world?! YES PLEASE! Challenger Deep was very good, very powerful. Not an easy read, but an important one. I can’t wait to read Red Queen and Ink and Bone too! Such fabulous choices πŸ˜€

    • iloveheartlandx 07/12/2015 / 3:46 pm

That’s great to hear! I hope I get to read it soon too. I have so many books to read on my shelf, it’s kind of insane, I really need to stop buying new ones. I know right? I hardly ever preorder books but I knew I had to preorder that one because I was so excited to read more from the Unwind world. That’s good to hear. I wasn’t expecting it to be an easy read, but I’m looking forward to it anyway because it just sounds so good! Me either! I’ve had them both since July, I really need to get on with reading them! Thank you!

  28. Deborah O'Carroll 07/12/2015 / 1:07 am

Awesome list! I really want to read Ink and Bone… It’s supposed to be at my library but I had to get Six of Crows first instead. XD I’ve had Graceling FOREVER but still haven’t gotten to it. OOH! I just read the first Skulduggery Pleasant book! πŸ˜€ So much fun banter… ❀ The Accident Season sounds intriguing as well. πŸ™‚

    • iloveheartlandx 07/12/2015 / 12:28 pm

Thanks! I hope we both get to Ink and Bone soon. Same! I’ve had it since July, still haven’t read it yet! Yes, Skulduggery Pleasant is awesome! Hope you enjoy the rest of the series! The fun banter continues!

  29. Cassie-la 07/12/2015 / 3:08 pm

Great list! I’m always looking forward to finally reading Ink and Bone, Red Queen, and Snow Like Ashes!

  30. Ash @ Teabears & Co 07/12/2015 / 5:42 pm

OHHH you have to read Red Queen! Believe me, it’s AMAZING. I was so skeptical about reading it at first, but when I finally did I was so surprised. The world is so unique and the protagonist is not a whiny teenage girl which is always a plus! *grins* Magnus Chase ahhhh I haven’t read this one but I’m dying to! I know what you mean by being scared of your opinion of Rick Riordan being tarnished. He’s had SUCH an amazing record so far with his books and I practically worship the guy so I’m with you on this one!

Thanks so much for stopping by @Teabears and Co!

    • iloveheartlandx 07/12/2015 / 6:24 pm

Glad to hear you thought so! Yes, it is definitely always a plus when a female teen protagonist is not whiny! I’m excited for Magnus Chase, it’s just it will be the first Rick Riordan I’ve read without Percy in it and he’s one of my favourite authors so I really don’t want my opinion of him to be spoiled by his new book. I’m sure it won’t be though, I’ve heard some good things about it. No problem!

  31. Andrea @ The Overstuffed Bookcase 07/12/2015 / 6:22 pm

Graceling is so good! It’s been years since I’ve read it, though, so I’ll probably read it again before I read Fire and Bitterblue, the companion novels. I want to read lots of the other books on your list as well! Great list, and I hope you’re able to read them all soon!

  32. Lucie @ Tea Books and Fun 13/12/2015 / 1:16 pm

You should definitely check Ink and Bone out, it is so good and quite unique! I found the idea behind the Great Library so fascinating and it’s a book with character’s deaths. Basically, no one is safe! Snow like Ashes is one of my favourite fantasy of this year, even though I enjoyed Ice like Fire less than SLA. I hope you’ll get to all of this books soon! πŸ™‚

    • iloveheartlandx 13/12/2015 / 1:25 pm

It does sound amazing, I hope I enjoy it as much as you seem to have. Snow Like Ashes sounds awesome, I hope I enjoy that as much as you did too. Thanks! So do I!

  33. rhodak 15/12/2015 / 9:01 am

Graceling is a book I’ve been meaning to read for ages! Hope you enjoy it when you get to it. Happy reading πŸ˜€

    • iloveheartlandx 16/12/2015 / 12:47 am

Yeah, me too. Thank you, I hope you do as well! πŸ™‚
