Sidekick Showcase Saturday #3

So today is the seventeenth anniversary of the Battle of Hogwarts, so for today’s sidekick showcase Saturday, in honour of this, I decided I would post about a Harry Potter character and as one of the topics from JC’s Book Haven for May is favourite motherly character, I’ve decided to do my post today on Molly Weasley, matriarch of the Weasley family and one of my favourite fictional mothers.

imageI love Molly Weasley for many reasons, she’s such a great mother, not only to her own children, but to Harry as well as anyone else who needs a mother figure in their life. Her home is always open to anyone, even though she already has a pretty crowded house, she’s very hospitable. She’s a very skilled witch, proved not only with her domestic spells but in her duel with Bellatrix Lestrange in the last book. She loves her children but she always pushes them to do the right thing even if it might put them in danger, and she’s not afraid to tell them when they’ve done something wrong (Howler in the second book anyone?), and to push them to do better. She always cheers her kids on even if she doesn’t agree with their decisions. She loves her husband, even though they don’t always agree on everything. She never complains about the Weasley’s financial problems, she just cheerfully makes do with what she has, and never shuts her home to anyone despite the added expense. Plus the fact that she managed to raise two kids who are such big troublemakers, as Fred and George are, earns her major respect from me, because it can’t have been easy! Sure she has her flaws, she’s very overbearing and overprotective but she always has the best interests of her children at heart. She’s a very strong woman, but not in the sense of fighting, she draws her strength from her family and her need to protect them at any cost. So that’s why I choose Molly Weasley as my sidekick showcase for today, she is the epitome of maternal love, a mother who will do anything to protect her children.

I will be back with another Sidekick Showcase Saturday next Saturday, but in the meantime, I will be posting another Swoonworthy Sunday tomorrow, so look out for that (and check out my newest review, a review of Lauren Oliver’s Panic).

Molly is one of the best book moms ever. I love when she goes Mama bear on Bellatrix. Don’t mess with Molly’s kids or you’ll get it. Matt @ JC’s Book Haven.
