Hey everyone! I’m back again this week with another Top Ten Tuesday post for you all, thanks to the lovely ladies over at The Broke and The Bookish. This week is a Thanksgiving themed freebie. I don’t celebrate Thanksgiving, since I’m English, but I’ve watched enough American TV shows to get the general idea of the holiday! For my topic this week, I’m going to be talking about bookish things that I am thankful for. I considered narrowing it down to just books or authors that I am thankful for, but there are so many bookish things that I am thankful for, it doesn’t seem right to restrict my list to just books or just authors that I am thankful for. So here we go, ten bookish things I am thankful for:
- I am thankful that there is only just over three months until the last book in The Raven Cycle series is released. It had better be really, really good after having had to wait this long!
- I am thankful for Neal Shusterman’s Unwind Dystology, one of my personal favourite series.
- I am thankful to JK Rowling for the Harry Potter series, because it made me the reader that I am today and inspired my lifelong dream to become an author.
- I am thankful that I got the chance to meet Derek Landy this year and especially thankful that I met him with my best friend, who loves the Skulduggery Pleasant books just as much as I do, sharing that experience with her made it even more special.
- I am thankful for the Percy Jackson and The Heroes of Olympus books, not only because they are both brilliant series, but also because I’m pretty sure that our shared love of Percy Jackson is one of the main reasons that my amazing best friend and I (same one who I met Derek Landy with) are friends. It has given us so many in-jokes and we have spent so much time fangirling over these books that I will be forever thankful that I read them.
- I am thankful for Jodi Picoult and all of the amazing books of hers that I have read, but most especially, I am thankful to her for My Sister’s Keeper, which is without a doubt one of my favourite books of all time.
- I am thankful to my dad, for reading to me when I was younger, one of many things that I know inspired my love of books and reading today.
- This kind of goes with #3, but I am thankful for Hermione Granger, who showed me that being smart and loving books and reading was not something to be ashamed of, but something to be proud of.
- I am thankful for The Hunger Games, for introducing me to the world of dystopia and as such, leading me to read some amazing books in that genre.
- I am thankful for Noughts and Crosses, as the love story of Callum and Sephy is one of the best I’ve ever read and this whole book in general is just beautiful.
- I am thankful for all the amazing book-to-movie adaptations that I have seen and all of the book-to-movie adaptations of my favourite books that I have yet to see. It’s amazing that I have been able to see so many of my favourite books come to life on screen and I cannot wait to see more.
- I am thankful to Sarah J Maas for the brilliant Throne of Glass series. I have so enjoyed Celaena’s adventures so far and am excited to see where her latest adventure in Queen of Shadows takes her.
- I am thankful to Sophie McKenzie, for writing so many brilliant books that I have just adored.
- I am thankful that I have a great best friend who has the same taste in books that I do, that I can fangirl with.
- I am thankful for Waterstones which keeps me well stocked in books!
- Most of all, I am thankful to all the people who read this blog. I love writing it and it’s great to see that other people enjoy reading it just as much. I am so thankful to be part of such a wonderful community, which has made me feel so welcome in the almost two years that I have been part of it (I will have been doing this blog for two years in February, how crazy is that!). Thank you, all my wonderful readers, it is you who keep this blog going!
I know, I went over 10 on my post this week, but what can I say? I have a lot of bookish things to be thankful for! What bookish things are you thankful for? What did you choose for your Thanksgiving themed freebie this week? Anyone else from somewhere that doesn’t celebrate Thanksgiving? Let me know!
That’s my post for this week, I will be back next week, the topic is Top Ten 2016 Debut Novels That I’m Looking Forward To, but I’m not sure if I have all that many, so I may choose a topic from the archives instead, we’ll see. In the meantime, I should have a new Wishlist Wednesday post for you all tomorrow, so stay tuned for that.
Amazing list you got there! I don’t celebrate Thanksgiving as well. I am Indian. But Have watched many American TV series to know what it is too! I do like the idea of it though. Being thankful for stuff and then there’s turkey and potatoes. Yum!
Here is my TTT
Yeah, it’s a nice idea, even if we don’t celebrate it here in the UK!
Awesome list! I love chatting about books with my BFF too!
Thanks! Who doesn’t? I’m so lucky to have a best friend who likes the same books that I do!
Three months! What? I have to wait all the way until April to read the last Raven Cycle book!
April? According to Amazon, the paperback releases at the beginning of March.
I live in the USA.
Well, Goodreads says April 26th. Amazon.com says March 29th. Goodreads is wrong. Yay!
Always good when Goodreads is wrong!
This is a great list! I read Unwind a couple years ago for my high school’s book club, and I really liked it, so I’m not sure why I haven’t continued the series. I might just have to look into that! And it’s so good that your best friend has the same book taste as you. My friends tend to like the books I like, but they’re not really readers, so I don’t get to fangirl with them as much as I’d like to.
Thanks for stopping by my blog earlier!
Thanks! You definitely should continue the Unwind series, it’s great! Yeah, it is brilliant that my friend has such similar taste in books to me, we spend hours fangirling together (usually about Percy Jackson)! No problem!
I am so excited about the Raven Cycle as well!!! i want to preorder the last book!
I know right! I cannot wait for it, especially now that it is has a cover which has made me even more excited!
Great list and I love how you couldn’t keep it to 10!!! ❤
Thanks! What can I say? I tried but it just wasn’t to be!
I can relate to a lot of these, especially the ones about Harry Potter and Percy Jackson. I need to read the Throne of Glass series soon. I’ve heard such good things about it. Great List!
Good to hear! It is brilliant, you definitely should read it. Thanks!
I adore The Hunger Games and HP was my childhood 🙂
Me too! Harry Potter was also my childhood, so grateful to be in the generation that grew up with those amazing books!
Not just the books – the movies too!
I’m thankful for the HP series, too! It wasn’t what originally made me into a bookworm, but it was the series that got me completely sucked back into reading when I kind of stopped for a couple years.
Seems like everyone has a lot to thank the HP series for!
Yay for Throne of Glass!
I know right!
Great list, I love Waterstones!
Me too!
I love your list! Thanks for stopping by my blog. 😀
Thanks! No problem!
Haha I have been holding off re-reading The Raven Boys and marathoning it with the other two to prepare for it! I heard of cliff-hangers and wanted to avoid lol. Harry Potter!!! Hermione is boss! I plan to finally read Percy and Heroes next year but I am sure I will love them. Hunger Games are awesome and it’s sad the movies are now over as well Maas is amazing and Celaena is kiss ass! Blogging and meeting all the amazing peoples of the internet is beyond wonderful. Great list! Happy Thanksgiving!
Sounds like a plan! Yes, Hermione is boss! Hope you enjoy them, when you get to them. Yes Hunger Games is awesome and it is sad the movies are over (though they definitely went out with a bang!). I totally agree on both accounts. It is, isn’t it? Thank you!
Great list! Thanks for sharing and for stopping by out blog.
Thanks! No problem!
#7 makes my heart smile 🙂
It’s my favourite one on the list 🙂
Great list! Especially #7. 🙂
Thanks! #7 is my favourite too 🙂
I could not be more excited about The Raven King. I’m both excited and terrified to see how things unravel. I honestly cannot wait. The Hunger Games will also have a special place in my heart and I’m still processing the fact that the franchise is at it’s end.
I don’t think it’s possible for me to be more excited either, especially given the long wait! I know, same here. I want to see how things turn out, but I’m scared in case they don’t go the way I want them to! I know right! It’s sad that there will be no more Hunger Games books or movies, but hey, they will always be there for us to enjoy.
Love your list! Especially #7. Thanks for stopping by my blog 🙂
Thanks! #7 is my favourite too 🙂 No problem!
I love your list! There are so many bookish things to be thankful for, I don’t even know how long my list would be. Have a great day!
My TTT: http://bookishutopia.blogspot.no/2015/11/top-ten-tuesday-book-that-im-thankful.html
Thanks! Yeah, this is by no means an exhaustive list, I’m sure there are more bookish things to be thankful for that I haven’t even thought of. Thank you.
Great list. The Heroes of Olympus books are great. 🙂
Thanks! Yeah they are!
Great list, I love that you included Jodi picoult she used to be one of my favorites!
Thanks! She still is one of my favourite authors, so I couldn’t not include her!
I still need to try The Raven Cycle series. I keep hearing great things. Wonderful list!
Thanks! It’s a great series, I hope you enjoy it when you get around to reading it.
I have the first book of the Raven Cycle series, and have seen so many people loving the books so far! Cannot wait to read it 😀
It’s a great series, I hope you enjoy it!
I agree with so many of these, especially The Hunger Games, Noughts and Crosses and Waterstones – I don’t know what I’d do without it! Love your list and thanks for stopping by my blog! 🙂
Yeah Noughts and Crosses and The Hunger Games are among my favourite books! I hope I never have to find out what I’d do without Waterstones! I don’t think I could manage! Thank you! No problem.
Yay for #1!
So excited for it!
My Sister’s Keeper was the first Jodi Picoult book I read, and it shattered me. I then went on to read Handle With Care, which I think I actually like MORE–it’s definitely my favorite of her works that I’ve read so far! Have you read that one?
Yeah My Sister’s Keeper tends to do that to people! I have read Handle With Care, I liked it, though it wasn’t one of my favourites.
Yes haha, I’ve noticed! I also HATE the movie ending… that just really irked me, how they changed it! XD
Yeah that really annoyed me too! They never should have changed something that important. Little things yes, but everyone knows that changing the ending from book to screen is a big no!
Right!? Especially that one–it totally discounted the ENTIRE point of the court battle.
I know! Ugh, it made me so angry!
I loved My Sister’s Keeper. Of course I can’t forget the awesomeness of Hermione Granger. Great list! Thank you for stopping by. 🙂
Yeah me too! Who can forget the awesomeness of Hermione Granger? Thank you. No problem.
I’m thankful the last Raven Cycle is coming soon too. xD BUT IT’S STILL NOT SOON ENOUGH. *tries hard not to be impatient* XD
Thanks for stopping by @ Paper Fury!
I know right! I want it now! It is very difficult not to be impatient. No problem.
I love how your list is both books and a book related stuff too! I enjoyed reading this! New follower here. Happy Reading!
Thanks!
It is amazing how much of an impact being read to as a child can have on one as an adult!
Great list. Happy Thanksgiving!
It really is! Thank you!
I can’t wait for The Raven King!!! Beautiful list, I loved it.
Me either! Thank you!
Brilliant list! 🙂 incredibly relatable!
Thanks!
I’m DEFINITELY thankful for #1! One of my favorite series EVER!
Mine too!
Oh, wow. What a great list. Thanks a lot for sharing, and for stopping by my TTT earlier. 🙂
Thanks! No problem!
Awesome list! I’m definitely thankful for my mom reading to me when I was a kid, I don’t remember a time when I wasn’t surrounded by books of some sort because of her. Thanks for stopping by my TTT!
Thanks! Yeah, it definitely helps if you have a parent who likes books to get you into reading! No problem!
Callum & Sephy ❤
Love them!
