Top Ten Tuesday #76

Hey everyone! I am back with another Top Ten Tuesday for you all this week, courtesy of the lovely ladies over at The Broke and The Bookish and the topic this week is Top Ten Books on My Fall TBR. I have kind of a love/hate relationship with these TBR based TTT topics because on the one hand it’s fun to see how many books I have to look forward to in the upcoming months but on the other hand, I never seem to manage to read all of the books on my lists, so it’s a little depressing! I read 6 of the books off my Summer TBR though, so that’s no bad, that’s more than half and it’s what I was expecting to read anyway, so I’m pretty pleased with that. Anyway, enough of my babbling, here’s what I’m planning to read this autumn!

  1. Empire of Storms-Sarah J Maas

Okay this first one is kind of cheating since it’s what I’m reading at the moment, but I’m only 40% of the way through so I think it still counts towards my autumn TBR books! I like it more than Queen of Shadows so far, but not as much as Heir of Fire.

2. Timekeeper-Tara Sim

I was approved to read this on Netgalley, which I’m really excited about because this book is something I’ve been really looking forward to reading. I’m not very far through yet, but it seems promising so far.

3. Challenger Deep-Neal Shusterman

I was meant to read this this month but I got distracted by Empire of Storms. I have now finished one of the books I was reading though, so I’ll be starting this tomorrow probably. I’m really excited because I’ve heard such good things and this will be the first Neal Shusterman book I’ve read that isn’t in the Unwind dystology, so that will be interesting.

4. The Accident Season-Moira Fowley-Doyle

I was waiting until October to read this one as I’ve heard it’s a very Halloweeny kind of book, so now that October is almost here, I will finally be reading it. It sounds very intriguing and slightly creepy, so I’m looking forward to reading it.

5. Snow Like Ashes-Sara Raasch

I’ve heard mixed things about this one, so I’m not sure how excited I am about reading it, but I was interested enough to pick the book up in the first place, so hopefully my gut instinct is right and the reviews were wrong! I do love a good fantasy world though, so it has that in it’s favour!

6. The Hammer of Thor-Rick Riordan

After reading and loving the first book in the Magnus Chase series this summer, I can’t wait to read this book (which releases really soon!) and see what trouble Magnus and the gang get into next!

7. Caraval-Stephanie Gerber

I’ve been wanting to read this one ever since I heard about it, and although a Netgalley copy is nowhere near as pretty as one of those gorgeous UK proofs, I just can’t wait to read the story (and then get my pretty finished copy when it actually comes out).

8. Scythe-Neal Shusterman

I am so excited for this one! It sounds like such an awesome book, the whole being an apprentice to the Grim Reaper and having to  kill your opponent for the job? Count me in!

9. The Night Circus-Erin Morgenstern

I got sent this as part of my August secret sister package and one of my friends keeps telling me how much she loves this book so I figure I should try and get to it soon.

10. Paper and Fire-Rachel Caine

I loved Ink and Bone when I read it earlier this year, so I really can’t wait to read the sequel!

That’s all for this week, since I probably won’t read all ten of these anyway, best to keep to just 10 on a TBR list! What is on your Autumn TBR? Do you share any of these? Have you read any of these? Let me know in the comments! Next week’s topic is about villains, we can twist this topic any way we want so I’m going do Top Ten TV Villains That I Love, but in the meantime I’m going to have a new review up for you guys soon, so stay tuned for that.

The Accident Season is so, so, so good. It is so underrated. I think you will love it. I also really enjoyed Paper and Fire. I didn’t necessarily love it as much as the first one, but I still enjoyed it. Great list!

That’s good to hear! I hope so, it sounds amazing. Well the first Great Library book was so good, it’s hard to live up to! Thanks 🙂

  2. Trisha 28/09/2016 / 4:09 pm

Great list. I have about half your list on my general TBR. Maybe I’ll get to them in the fall, Time Keeper for sure since I just got approved to read that on Net Galley too.

  3. lry93 28/09/2016 / 4:54 pm

I can’t wait for Caraval either!! It definitely looks great!! I also have most of the rest of these on my TBR 🙂 Snow Like Ashes was great!! I really should continue with the series!!

    • iloveheartlandx 28/09/2016 / 4:57 pm

It does right? Great minds clearly think alike! Well that’s good to hear, I’ve heard mixed things so it’s nice to hear a positive opinion.

      • lry93 28/09/2016 / 5:00 pm

I’ve heard that the second books suffer from second book syndrome, but the third books is apparently amazing! I guess I shall just have to read and find out for myself 🙂

  4. Louise 28/09/2016 / 5:16 pm

Scythe is on my TBR too, the cover is gorgeous and the plot sounds awesome.

  5. Darren 28/09/2016 / 5:44 pm

Seen Time Keeper on few lists, looks interesting!

  6. Rissi 28/09/2016 / 5:52 pm

“Empire of Storms” (and the entire TOG series) should have made my list too! *sigh* Someday. Also, I’d really like to read “Caraval.” It looks and sounds SO interesting.

    • iloveheartlandx 28/09/2016 / 11:21 pm

I hope you get to them someday! Yes, it does right? So excited to read it!

  7. alicerosesimmons 28/09/2016 / 6:49 pm

Great list! I really enjoyed the Accident Season, and definitely think it is a perfect Halloween read. The Night Circus is also one I really want to read soon 🙂
Hope you enjoy all of these!

Thank you for stopping by my blog! So glad you liked “Small Great Things” I can’t wait to start it! ” The Night Circus” is on my TBR also- how have we not read this book yet?! It is everywhere. Hopefully it lives up to the hype.

    • iloveheartlandx 28/09/2016 / 11:26 pm

No problem! Hope you enjoy it as much as I did. I don’t know! Let’s hope 🙂

  9. Amanda @Cover2CoverMom 28/09/2016 / 6:53 pm

A few of these books are on my TBR list as well. Carnival, Ink and Bone, Timekeeper, and The Night Circus… so many great books out there!

    • iloveheartlandx 28/09/2016 / 11:25 pm

I know, it’s great and a problem all at once, so many books, so little time!

  10. KliScruggs 28/09/2016 / 8:00 pm

OMGOSH! I’m so excited for Timekeeper. The Night Circus is also beautiful. I loved it and will own a copy someday. The writing will knock your socks off. Great choices!!

  11. Jane @ Greenish Bookshelf 28/09/2016 / 9:15 pm

The Night Circus is a really neat book. Such a fun and intriguing story! I hope you can read it soon 🙂 Thanks for stopping by my TTT earlier 🙂

  12. Lark @ The Bookwyrm's Hoard 28/09/2016 / 10:43 pm

Yes to The Hammer of Thor! And The Night Circus is so beautiful; I loved it. (If you like audiobooks, Jim Dale’s narration for this one is excellent.) As for the others, I need to read Ink and Bone at some point, as well as Sarah J. Maas’s books. They’re on my TBR; I just haven’t gotten to them yet.

    • iloveheartlandx 28/09/2016 / 11:24 pm

I love everything Rick Riordan writes! So I’ve heard. I have a paper copy, but I may get the audiobook at some point. Ah, story of my life!

  13. imyril 28/09/2016 / 11:42 pm

Oh wow, Caraval and the Night Circus seem like a perfect pairing!

  14. Birdie 29/09/2016 / 12:24 am

Challenger Deep is so good. I cried at the end because it was so… intense. He wrote it, having experience with a kid that suffered from a mental disorder. It’s wonderful.

    • iloveheartlandx 29/09/2016 / 3:11 pm

That’s great to hear, I hope I enjoy it as much as you did.

  15. everythingalyce 29/09/2016 / 12:58 am

I was lucky enough to get one of the really beautiful Caraval proofs when I was at the Chapter 5 Proof Party – I’ve never been so excited about a book in my life. I’m trying to wait until closer to release date to read it, but it’s getting more and more tempting every day…

    • iloveheartlandx 29/09/2016 / 3:00 pm

Lucky! Wow, you have way more self control than me, I’m reading it as soon as possible!

  16. Emily Alfano 29/09/2016 / 1:12 am

Can’t wait to hear what you think of EOS! Especially the ending! keep me posted!

  17. Lauren @ Always Me 29/09/2016 / 1:26 am

The Accident Season will be perfect for October! I hope you like it!

  18. thebookishlibra 29/09/2016 / 2:19 am

The Night Circus is fabulous so I hope you enjoy it! 🙂

  19. Amy 29/09/2016 / 2:29 am

Great list! There are more than a few books on it that I want to get to someday, especially The Accident Season and Snow like Ashes. 🙂

  20. Miriam Michelle 29/09/2016 / 2:39 am

What an awesome list!!! I might check out some of the books you have on your list like The Accident Season! Happy reading!

    • iloveheartlandx 29/09/2016 / 2:46 pm

Thanks! Oh that’s great, I hope you enjoy the ones you try. You too 🙂

  21. Amanda K Thompson 29/09/2016 / 4:21 am

Ahh, the Night Circus is a favorite! I’ve just been thinking I need to read that again. I have the same problem with TBRs; I write down so many books I want to read and they never seem to be the ones I actually wind up reading! Looking forward to your favorite villains list.

    • iloveheartlandx 29/09/2016 / 2:43 pm

That’s great to hear! I know right, it’s a real problem! Thanks, hope you enjoy it.

  22. RAVISHING TALES 29/09/2016 / 8:40 am

The Night Circus is one of my all-time favourite books! You’ll love it too!

  23. Briana 29/09/2016 / 8:40 am

I love The Night Circus! I keep waiting for Morgenstern to publish a new book because I would totally pre-order it, and pre-ordering is not a thing I do. 😉

I didn’t love The Accident Season, but I know a lot of people do, and it really would be a great October read.

    • iloveheartlandx 29/09/2016 / 2:41 pm

That’s great to hear! Oh that’s a shame, hopefully I’ll like it better than you did 🙂

  24. Shoto 29/09/2016 / 10:23 am

Snow Like Ashes sounds really interesting. The Night Circus is one of my favourite books of all time, hope you enjoy it 😀

    • iloveheartlandx 29/09/2016 / 2:38 pm

Yes it does doesn’t it? Oh that’s great to hear. Thanks, I hope so too 🙂

  25. adventurekettle 29/09/2016 / 1:54 pm

I finally got a used copy of The Night Circus from paperbackswap and I NEED to read it…I keep reading movie rumors about it. Happy Reading! Thanks for stopping by my TTT. Vonze’s Reader Blog

Empire and Storms was great. And I really liked Snow Like Ashes. I hope you’ll enjoy all of these. Thanks for sharing, and for stopping by my TTT earlier. 🙂

Hopefully you will soon! Oh that’s great, I hope I will too.

  28. bahnree 30/09/2016 / 6:36 am

Oooo I forgot about Timekeeper! I’m excited for that one.

  29. mki52 30/09/2016 / 2:08 pm

I sadly have been so behind on my Rick Riordan series 😦 I really need to catch up, I love his work!!

  30. Jacquie (Rattle the Stars) 01/10/2016 / 5:26 am

Scythe (I just love the cover!) and The Timekeeper sound amazing! I can’t wait to pick them up 🙂 Great list of books.

  31. Rain @ Ivyclad Ideas 01/10/2016 / 10:46 am

You just reminded me that Hammer of Thor comes out soon! XD XD XD Super excited for it!

  32. Elle @ Perusing Pages 01/10/2016 / 1:52 pm

I’m currently reading Paper and Fire. It’s so good. I’m loving it even more than Ink and Bone tbh. A lot of these are on my tbr too, even though they didn’t make my list (probably cause I felt like I’ve talked about them too much already lol)–Caraval especially! Awesome list.

    • iloveheartlandx 01/10/2016 / 8:25 pm

That’s great to hear! Yeah, there are loads of books that could have made my TBR! Thanks 🙂

  33. Annemieke 02/10/2016 / 8:58 am

I have The Timekeeper on pre order. So curious about that one. 🙂

    • iloveheartlandx 02/10/2016 / 10:18 pm

Yeah it’s been pretty good so far, but I’m not that far through yet.

  34. Kate @ Fictional Thoughts 05/10/2016 / 7:48 am

I thought the Night Circus was a sweet read. Magical realism is not usually my thing but I liked how the author meshed the read and unreal. The characters are lovely too.
