Top Ten Tuesday #177

Hi everyone! I hope you’ve all had a good week since my last TTT, I turned 22 on Wednesday, I had a great day shopping with my friend Nicola and then my classic birthday celebrations of pizza and movies with Nicola and Rebecca (and cake of course), so that was fun, and very weird to think that that was my last Uni birthday! Other than that, I’ve just been getting back into the swing of things at Uni: I’m feeling relatively good at the moment, but I’m sure the stress induced breakdown is only a few short weeks away.

Anyway, I’m back today with a new Top Ten Tuesday, courtesy of Jana over at That Artsy Reader Girl. Today we’re meant to be talking about our Autumn TBRs, but I already did a version of that topic for our Back To School freebie a few weeks ago so I decided to take a different tack this week and talk all about the Autumn TV that I’m looking forward to instead. So here we go, ten shows that I’m excited for this Autumn:

  1. The Good Place-Season 3-September 28th

10 DAYS PEOPLE. I AM SO FORKING EXCITED. The Good Place was one of my favourite new TV shows from last year and after that incredible Season 2 finale, I can’t wait to see how this season pans out. I love that The Good Place is constantly changing and reinventing itself and you never know what is going to happen next, it’s super exciting and such a funny show, so yeah, I am counting down the days till its return.

2. Crazy Ex-Girlfriend-Season 4-October 13th

Still have a few weeks to wait for this one, but I can’t wait to see what the final season of Crazy Ex has in store. I only started watching this show this year after The Beast From The East had me trapped in my flat for four days, but I fell completely in love with it, it’s such a creative, awesome, funny show and I can’t wait to see how Rebecca’s story wraps up, especially with how Season 3 ended.

3. Outlander-Season 4-November 5th

AHHH! Outlander was another show I started watching last year and just became completely addicted to, and now I am not so patiently waiting for the new season. I’m really excited to see Jamie and Claire in Colonial America, it’s going to make for some very exciting new adventures, but I seriously wish November wasn’t so far away.

4. Jack Whitehall: Travels With My Father-Season 2-September 28th

The first season of this show was super funny and I can’t wait to see what kind of adventures Jack and Michael got up to in the newest season of the show-my friends and I all love Jack Whitehall so this is going to be a super fun one for all of us to watch together.

5. Strictly Come Dancing-Season 16-September 22nd

Strictly returns this weekend for its latest series and I could not be more excited-if you’re not in the UK, it’s our version of Dancing With The Stars where celebrities learn to dance with professional dancers (but we had it first!) and it’s pretty much my Saturday night plans from now until Christmas-the one time of year when I pretend I know anything at all about dancing!

6. Victoria-Season 3-Return date unconfirmed

Okay so we don’t actually know when Victoria is going to be back, but it is usually aired at some point in the autumn, so I’m hoping it will be back soon! I love this show, it’s one of my favourite period dramas and I can’t wait to see what happens in the next series, especially as we’re coming up to the Great Exhibition which is going to be amazing to see on screen.

7. Riverdale-Season 3-October 11th

Yes, I know Riverdale is kind of trashy and a bit ridiculous at times, but hey, that’s why I enjoy it. Last year’s definitely got a bit weird, so it’s going to be interesting to see how they top that this year.

8. You-Season 1-Unconfirmed Netflix release

I saw the trailer for this and it looks so cool-I mean it’s not all that much of a stretch for Penn Badgley to play a creepy stalker after his role on Gossip Girl, but he looks like he’s very good at it! I don’t know when this is going to actually be up on Netflix, probably after its finished it’s US run, but I’m excited to see it.

9. Doctor Who-Season 13-October 7th

I will admit, I haven’t actually watched Doctor Who since I think Matt Smith’s second series, aside from the occasional episode at Christmas, but I’m really excited to see the new series now that Jodie Whittaker has taken the reins as the Doctor and I’m hoping that now Steven Moffat isn’t running the show, the storylines might become coherent again!

10. Killing Eve-15th September

Okay, so technically I’m a few days late with this one, but I am super excited to see it, the trailer looked so good and I love a good crime drama, plus I’ve heard so much great stuff about this one so I’m excited to finally dig into it when I get the chance.

So there we have it, some Autumn TV I’m looking forward to-I am of course looking forward to all my old US favourites returning as well (TBBT, Jane The Virgin, How To Get Away With Murder etc) but since it’s uncertain when they will actually appear in the UK, I stuck to shows I definitely know will be airing here in the near future!

Are you excited to see any of these shows back? What are you looking forward to seeing on TV this autumn? Let me know in the comments!

Next week’s topic is Books By My Favourite Authors That I Still Haven’t Read, which I definitely have a lot of (not gonna lie, feeling a little judged here) so that should be a fun one. In the meantime, I just finished Vicious, so I should have a review of that up for you guys soon.

Can’t wait for them! I tried Dynasty and couldn’t get into it, but I hope you enjoy the new series πŸ™‚

  1. Jess @ Jessticulates 18/09/2018 / 6:43 pm

Great list! I’m really looking forward to Strictly and Victoria, too. πŸ˜€ I need to get into Outlander!

    • iloveheartlandx 19/09/2018 / 12:15 pm

Thanks! Yes, two of my favourite shows. Ah you should, it’s so good πŸ™‚

    • iloveheartlandx 19/09/2018 / 12:15 pm

That’s great to hear! Oh me too, definitely one of my favourite new shows πŸ™‚

  2. Rissi 18/09/2018 / 7:22 pm

I LOVE the Matt Smith years of “Doctor Who” and cannot imagine liking anyone else as well in this role. HOWEVER, if I do get through these years (I kind of forgot I owned them on DVD), I may try this new series. Just for fun. Either way, I love some good TV binges!

    Happy fall TV binging. πŸ™‚

    • iloveheartlandx 19/09/2018 / 12:14 pm

I liked the first year, it was just the second and third years got super weird and confusing for me. I hope you do enjoy the rest of the show. Me too. Thank you πŸ™‚

I keep forgetting how soon the return of The Good Place and Doctor Who are! I’m really excited for both of them. I fully intended to rewatch season two of The Good Place before season 3 came out but I haven’t gotten around to it yet. And I actually loved some of Peter Capaldi’s episodes because there were a bit more experimental. I really need to catch up on Crazy Ex Girlfriend, I’ve only watched season 1.

    • iloveheartlandx 19/09/2018 / 12:13 pm

Yeah me too! You’ve still got a week and a bit, that’s plenty of time. I didn’t actually really see any of Capaldi, aside from Christmas specials, so I’m not really in a place to judge, my problem was really more with Steven Moffat’s writing than him as the Doctor. Ah you should, it’s so good!

  4. Greg 19/09/2018 / 12:32 am

Ha ha I feel the same way about Riverdale. Trashy and irresistible lol.

  5. Amanda McGill 19/09/2018 / 1:19 am

Great twist on the topic! I also can’t wait to see You!

    • iloveheartlandx 19/09/2018 / 12:12 pm

Thank you! Yeah it looks so good, it’s really annoying that it seems like Netflix isn’t going to add it until the whole thing has aired in the US but there you go!

  6. Lee @ Rally the Readers 19/09/2018 / 1:47 am

I only got up to the middle of Season 2 of Outlander and really need to catch up. I feel like the only person who doesn’t watch Riverdale, lol, and need to check it out one of these days.

    • iloveheartlandx 19/09/2018 / 12:11 pm

I hope you enjoy the rest of it! I mean it’s not the greatest show, but it is weirdly addictive.

  7. rayasreads 19/09/2018 / 3:39 am

I really need to Start Outlander and The Good Place. Great list! πŸ™‚

  8. Kelly W 19/09/2018 / 3:42 am

I’m in the dame boat with Doctor Who. I dropped it some time during the 11th doctor (I think? I’m pretty sure) but I’m considering at least seeing what’s up with this new Doctor!

    • iloveheartlandx 19/09/2018 / 12:10 pm

Yeah I’m excited to see the show hopefully go in a new direction!

  9. Heather Cilley 19/09/2018 / 3:59 am

Yay The Good Place! I am so excited for more The Good Place. I am not a fan of Riverdale but I am SO excited for the new Sabrina show!! Have an amazing week! And happy late birthday! ❀

    • iloveheartlandx 19/09/2018 / 12:08 pm

Me too! Ah yes, I’ve seen the trailers for that popping up and it looks really good, will definitely have to check it out. Thank you πŸ™‚

  10. Michelle @ In Libris Veritas 19/09/2018 / 6:55 am

Happy belated birthday! I’m thinking of picking Doctor Who back up. I watched all of it up until I think midway through Capaldi’s first season and gave up. It felt like a mess and just lost all it’s fun. But I’m excited to see if it returns to form with Jodi and the new screenwriters.

I don’t watch a ton of tv though, so I’m really out of the loop on pretty much everything.

    • iloveheartlandx 19/09/2018 / 12:06 pm

Thank you! Yeah I watched the first Peter Capaldi episode and didn’t really like it, so I kind of gave up, but I want to see if the new screenwriters and Jodie make any difference, because I did actually really like the show at one point. That’s fair enough, I probably watch way too much TV!

  11. Kathy @ Books & Munches 19/09/2018 / 9:35 am

The only one I’ve seen a few episodes of, is Riverdale. I really do need to check it out further but.. I’m more of a reader than a watcher? Haha.

Happy late birthday to you! πŸ™‚

    • iloveheartlandx 19/09/2018 / 12:04 pm

That’s totally fair, TV is not something everyone enjoys! I would probably get a lot more done if I watched less TV! Thank you πŸ™‚

      • Kathy @ Books & Munches 19/09/2018 / 2:23 pm

Haha; guess there are more people feeling that way but if it’s something you enjoy, why not do it, right?! πŸ™‚

  12. kozbisa 19/09/2018 / 10:07 am

Happy belated birthday! Glad you had fun with your friend. I watch very little TV, but I will be tuning in for the new season of Riverdale. That show is just too addictive. I am also looking forward to some old favorites (Grey’s, This is Us).

    • iloveheartlandx 19/09/2018 / 12:04 pm

Thank you! Yes it is. Ah I’m watching This Is Us at the moment, but we’ve only just got the second season here, so I probably won’t get the chance to watch the third season till next year.

  13. Lin 19/09/2018 / 11:09 am

Happy Belated Birthday!!! *presents large cake* No birthday is complete without questionable amounts of cake! XD
Jack Whitehall is one of my fave comedians!! I really like his stand up stuff!! Admittedly, I have only seen one episode of the Travels with my Father series, but what I did see was really funny! I might watch the whole thing, especially if there is another season! TV BINGE!!!

    • iloveheartlandx 19/09/2018 / 11:59 am

Aww thank you! Ha ha I definitely fulfilled that part of my birthday, don’t you worry. Mine too! Yeah you definitely should, it was great. I do love a good TV binge πŸ™‚

  14. lifewithallthebooks 19/09/2018 / 1:08 pm

Riverdale is my total guilty pleasure – it’s crazy but so entertaining! And I am so excited now that strictly’s back too – I’ve watched every season obsessively! Great list 😊

  15. thebookishlibra 19/09/2018 / 11:57 pm

Happy Belated Birthday to you! I just binge watched season 2 of The Good Place last week and I’m so ready for season 3. Love that show!

  16. Shannon @ It Starts at Midnight 20/09/2018 / 2:38 am

Bwhahah Riverdale IS so trashy, but I’ll be watching it right there with you! This time of year is shockingly not busy for me, show wise! It seems a lot of the stuff I watch is mid-season, so I guess come spring I’ll be busy! Hope you had a great birthday, too- sounds like it was fun!

    • iloveheartlandx 21/09/2018 / 1:47 pm

Ha ha yes, so trashy, but so much fun! Same here actually, most of the shows I like have spring premieres, so this autumn will actually be relatively chill in terms of TV. Thanks, I did!

  17. CG @ Paper Fury 21/09/2018 / 12:36 am

Oh I am SO excited for The Good Place !!! *flails* My sister is demanding I wait for her to watch it though so I probably won’t see it till November gah. But it’s such a good show. I do want to keep watching Riverdale, but it is definitely trashy. πŸ˜‚In an amusing way though! And I’m looking forward to Stranger Things whenever that returns, but I don’t think it’s this year right?! *cries*

    • iloveheartlandx 21/09/2018 / 1:46 pm

Me too! AGH that’s so annoying-my sister loves it too, but she’s just moved out to Australia so there’s no chance of us watching together. It is. Ha ha yeah, Riverdale is total trash, but that’s what makes it so fun. No, I think I heard that it was returning next year? I don’t watch it though, so I could be wrong!

  18. Annemieke 21/09/2018 / 12:44 pm

I kind of left Dr. Who to the side but I really want to see Jodie Whitaker. I saw the trailer yesterday and I really just need to catch an episode.

  19. alicerosesimmons 21/09/2018 / 4:01 pm

Great list – I am looking forward to so many of these shows as well! I can not wait for The Good Place to come back, especially now the season three premiere date is so close. I am also super looking forward to both Strictly Come Dancing and Doctor Who returning, as they will serve as my weekend viewing for pretty much the rest of the year πŸ™‚

    • iloveheartlandx 23/09/2018 / 10:36 am

Thanks! Ah yes, I’m so excited for it. And same here on the weekend viewing front πŸ™‚

  20. Arya D. @Arya's Fangirl Lexicon 22/09/2018 / 11:20 pm

Yes The Good Place the conmericials are killing me. Im also very excited for 911 which comes back tonight for season 2. I still havent watched Dr. Who yet but im excited to give the show a go sometime soon.

    • iloveheartlandx 23/09/2018 / 10:35 am

AH I’M SO EXCITED, ONLY 4 MORE DAYS To GO. I haven’t seen 911. Yeah you definitely should, it’s great-or at least it was when I watched it, it kind of went downhill over the last few years.

    • iloveheartlandx 23/09/2018 / 10:33 am

I haven’t actually read the books! The show is really great though.

  21. Ericka 24/09/2018 / 10:39 pm

Amen to the new season of Outlander!

  22. Cam @ Camillea Reads 02/10/2018 / 12:57 pm

I haven’t watched any of these although I have heard of You! It sounds very creepy and absolutely perfect for October. I’m looking forward to season 4 of Tokyo Ghoul coming out this month πŸ™‚

    • iloveheartlandx 03/10/2018 / 9:11 pm

Yes it does! It hasn’t come on Netflix yet though, sadly-I think it might be after the series finishing airing in the US. Oh cool, I’ve never heard of that one, will have to check it out.
