Top Ten Tuesday #175

Hi all! So I haven’t really been up to much this week, I’ve been getting ready to head back up to Scotland for Uni (which is happening tomorrow) and I was in London on Wednesday and Thursday visiting my friend Nicola, we were both very annoyed that we just missed Eddie Redmayne and Jude Law being in Kings X on Saturday (I mean she had a better shot than me as she left on Friday whereas I left on Thursday, but still!).

Anyway, I’m back today with another Top Ten Tuesday post for you guys and this week we’re having a slight break from books and talking about Most Bingeworthy TV shows in honour of all our favourites returning (well if you’re in America anyway, us Brits have to wait a while longer to get most of them!). Now I watch A LOT of TV, so to narrow it down, I’m going to talk about shows I’ve watched in the last year or so, and avoid talking about all my usual go-to binge faves like Friends and Gilmore Girls because those are givens! So here we go, my Top Ten Most Bingeworthy TV Shows:

  1. The Good Place

AGHHH I LOVE THE GOOD PLACE SO MUCH, IT’S SO FORKIN GOOD! I started watching this one last year, got through the first season in I think a matter of days and then watched the second as it came out. It’s such a weird, zany, funny and super clever show, you never really know what you’re going to get and I’m super excited for the third season to start in a few weeks time.

2. Crazy Ex-Girlfriend

I watched all three current seasons of this show in like 4 days back in March when we had the Beast From The East in Scotland and I couldn’t leave my flat because there was so much snow. I mean part of me finishing the show so fast was of course because I was trapped and couldn’t go anywhere, but most of it was that it’s a great show, the songs are so catchy, it’s such a great subversion of the “crazy ex-girlfriend” trope and it talks about so many topics that other shows would be afraid to approach, particularly in regards to mental health.

3. Brooklyn Nine-Nine

Ah my love! I started watching Brooklyn Nine-Nine last year, binged the first three seasons and have now watched seasons 4 & 5 as well (seriously why does it take Netflix UK so long to update them????). Brooklyn Nine-Nine is just the BEST, it’s so funny, has such a diverse cast and is just generally such a warm, heartfelt show. I love it so much and I am so glad that it didn’t end (Fox, you are DEAD to me).

4. Suits

I started watching Suits this summer, mostly because I was curious about what Meghan Markle did before she was Duchess of Sussex and not because I had any particular interest in the show. BOY WAS I WRONG. I watched all seven seasons in just over a week I think and am currently enjoying the eighth-it’s still super good even without Meghan Markle and Patrick Adams! This show is basically wall to wall addictive drama and I just love it so much.

5. Riverdale

Yup this show is trash. But it’s totally addictive trash that is ridiculously bingeworthy because you just can’t wait to see what ridiculous thing the writers are going to come up with to do next-the second season got VERY WEIRD for a while there, so I can’t wait to see what addictive soapy drama the writers come up with for the third season.

6. One Day At A Time

I watched the first two seasons of this in I think two days earlier in the year and LOVED IT. It’s such a heartfelt, beautiful show, the cast is insanely funny and it deals with a lot of sensitive topics in such a wonderful way. I seriously hope this show goes on for a while longer, because I need more of Lydia Riera in my life!

7. Lovesick

I love a good British comedy, as great as American sitcoms are, British comedy just has the edge because our sense of humour is so specific to us. The whole premise of this is a guy gets chlamydia and he has to contact all of his previous exes to tell them and it’s just really funny and entertaining to watch, plus the show is filmed in Glasgow, so I recognise quite a lot of the locations in it!

8. Scandal

I watched this earlier in the year as well and got ever so slightly addicted to it. Much like Riverdale, the drama is kind of over the top and outlandish, and you just can’t wait to see what super over the top thing is going to happen next-though it’s much better than Riverdale, because you know the actors in it are actually good and they make the over the top drama seem more believable. I’ve only seen up to Season 6 because that’s all there was available on Amazon Prime, but hopefully Season 7 will be up soon!

9. Orphan Black

I watched this one summer last year and it was just so darn enjoyable! Tatiana Maslany is so impressive, managing to play all of the different clones, all with such different personalities and it was just such an exciting, dynamic show. I kind of wished I’d discovered it earlier, not just before it ended, but it was a great one to binge!

10. Reign

I shouldn’t have enjoyed this. I mean I love the Tudors & Stuarts, I did my A-Level coursework on Mary Queen of Scots and this is a historical period that I know pretty well. I should have hated this, I mean it was woefully historically inaccurate and I spent most of my time picking out the inaccuracies BUT it was darn enjoyable! It was good soapy drama, the acting was actually decent and even when the storylines got outlandish, I still really enjoyed it (whilst simultaneously tearing the history to shreds).

So there we go, more shows to add to your Netflix list! Have you watched any of these? Did you enjoy them? What shows do you find super bingeworthy? Let me know in the comments!

Next week’s Top Ten Tuesday we’re going to be talking about Hidden Gems, those books that we feel are flying under the radar. In the meantime, I will have my August #RockMyTBR update up for you guys tomorrow.

Great list! I love Orphan Black, Tatiana Maslany is amazing, and Brooklyn Nine-Nine is so much fun, too. I think I need to give The Good Place a try because I’ve heard nothing but good things. πŸ™‚

    • iloveheartlandx 04/09/2018 / 3:20 pm

Thank you! Yes, Tatiana Maslany is awesome, it’s amazing how she plays so many different characters on that show. Yup, Brooklyn Nine Nine is the best. Oh you absolutely do, The Good Place is so much fun πŸ™‚

  2. Kaitlin (leviosanotleviosa) 04/09/2018 / 1:31 pm

Crazy Ex-Girlfriend is SO GOOOOOOD (I might know all the songs by heart). I’m so excited for the new (and last) season. Great list!

    • iloveheartlandx 04/09/2018 / 3:19 pm

It is! Yes, the songs are so catchy-I’ve only watched it once, so I don’t know them all yet, but GOALS. Me too. Thank you πŸ™‚

      • Kaitlin (leviosanotleviosa) 04/09/2018 / 3:28 pm

I’ve got the playlist on Spotify 🀭🀭

    • iloveheartlandx 04/09/2018 / 3:18 pm

Thank you! Yes, I don’t know what it is about it, it’s so addictive. Yes it was, I hope they do another series πŸ™‚

  3. Bonnie Wagner 04/09/2018 / 1:51 pm

Have a safe trip back to Scotland! When do your seasons run? Oh, my friend just mentioned The Good Place the other day. I’d never heard of it. She said it was on Netflix and I said I would watch if she finally started watching Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, lol! Which, haha, is your #2! I’m typing as I read down the list! I’m super behind on Orphan Black and I have Reign on my to-watch list. I’ll have to look into some of the others! ❀

    • iloveheartlandx 04/09/2018 / 3:18 pm

Thank you! We don’t really have defined television seasons as such, there’s stuff on all year round-we have certain shows than run at certain times of the year sure, but there’s not like a defined “the tv season is from September-May” like there is in the US. Ha ha that is a good trade off-you will both have a great time. I hope you enjoy the rest of Orphan Black and Reign. Yes, definitely do, they’re all great shows!

  4. Sarah Ellis 04/09/2018 / 1:52 pm

The first three are the only ones I’ve seen and I love all three of them. Crazy Ex GF cracks me up! I think my favorite song to date is when Daryl found out there was nothing wrong with his sperm. It was so unexpectedly hilarious. The Good Place is amazing and also…NOINE NOINE!!

    • iloveheartlandx 04/09/2018 / 3:15 pm

They are all so great! Ha ha same. Mine is “Tap That Ass”, it’s just so hilarious and their tap dancing is awesome. Yes, The Good Place is awesome. NOINE NOINE!

  5. thelittlebookowl 04/09/2018 / 2:10 pm

I totally agree with you about Reign and Riverdale! πŸ™‚

      • thelittlebookowl 04/09/2018 / 3:12 pm

There both so good but so bad at the same time πŸ˜‚

  6. Literary Feline 04/09/2018 / 2:39 pm

I love Orphan Black! I didn’t list The Good Place, but I do really like that show too. Great picks, Jo!

    • iloveheartlandx 04/09/2018 / 3:08 pm

Yes, it was such a great show! And yes, The Good Place is awesome. Thanks πŸ™‚

  7. bookmuffin 04/09/2018 / 2:50 pm

I want to watch The Good Place, glad to know you enjoyed it!

  8. Deb Nance at Readerbuzz 04/09/2018 / 3:05 pm

Thank you for sharing all of these. I have added them to my list. Now I’m going to see if I can find them.

    • iloveheartlandx 04/09/2018 / 3:07 pm

No problem! They’re all on Netflix or Amazon Prime in the UK, don’t know about the US though!

  9. Poinsettia 04/09/2018 / 3:24 pm

Nice list! I’ve never watched Riverdale or Reign, but I kind of want to just to have something entertaining and not to serious to watch. Thanks for visiting Long and Short Reviews!

    • iloveheartlandx 04/09/2018 / 10:49 pm

Both great shows! Ha ha yes, it is totally mad, but seriously entertaining.

  10. Louise 04/09/2018 / 4:44 pm

Brooklyn Nine-Nine is my favourite new show in the years. It’s so funny. I’m kind of glad that I came into a bit late, I think her in the end of season 3, because I got to watch all of it back to back. I’m in the same boat with Netflix though. I watched part of the latest season on Sky, but I kind of lost track of it so I’m going to wait and watch the whole thing again once Netflix gets it.

    • iloveheartlandx 04/09/2018 / 10:48 pm

It is! Yeah I am too, I think it’s a great show to binge (obviously). I saw all of it, but I will obviously be watching it again when Netflix gets it πŸ™‚

  11. thestoryenthusiast 04/09/2018 / 4:47 pm

I’ve heard such great things about The Good Place. I really want to watch it. I’m a huge fan of Suits and have been watching it since season one. I was worried about how the change in dynamics in this season with the departure of Markle and Adams, but so far, I’m still enjoying it.

    • iloveheartlandx 04/09/2018 / 10:44 pm

You definitely should, it’s awesome! Yes, I was too (though I’m a much newer viewer) but I think it’s been really good so far πŸ™‚

  12. daneelolivaw33 04/09/2018 / 4:48 pm

This is the second time I find Brooklyn Nine-Nine on a list. I need to see what that show is all about!

  13. Alicia @ A Kernel of Nonsense 04/09/2018 / 5:16 pm

You’re so lucky to have Brooklyn Nine-Nine on Netlfix. We don’t have it here in the US (I believe Hulu carries it) and I would love to be able to rewatch all the episodes.

    • iloveheartlandx 04/09/2018 / 10:41 pm

Yeah it is pretty great, though it seems to take forever for the new seasons to be added!

  14. Ashley Sapp 04/09/2018 / 5:39 pm

Riverdale is so addictive! I can’t wait for the new season! I keep hearing so many great things about The Good Place. I think I need to check it out! Great list! πŸ™‚

  15. Leslie 04/09/2018 / 7:01 pm

Great list!! I love so many of these shows. I forgot to add The Good Place to my list but it’s a great one!

  16. ChrissiReads 04/09/2018 / 7:20 pm

Riverdale is a wonderfully trash-y bingeworthy show!

  17. Louise β˜† 04/09/2018 / 10:15 pm

I still haven’t watched season 5 of B99 because of Netflix being so slow and finding it in order on TV has been the biggest pain in the butt. I feel like I’m really missing out so I may have to rewatch the first 4 seasons πŸ™‚

    • iloveheartlandx 04/09/2018 / 10:33 pm

Ugh tell me about it, I barely know what’s on TV anymore-thankfully I write TV reviews for a student website so I managed to find out when it was on, but I still wish Netflix was faster! Ha ha time well spent πŸ™‚

  18. kozbisa 04/09/2018 / 11:31 pm

I kind of lost interest in Reign after Francis was gone. Catherine was her fabulous self throughout, but it lost something.

  19. Tracy (@Cornerfolds) 05/09/2018 / 12:01 am

I LOVED Reign for the first couple seasons, but after Francis left and she didn’t get together with Bash, I kind of just lost interest. I quit watching altogether when she went back to Scotland :/

    Here are my Top Ten!

  20. Greg 05/09/2018 / 12:11 am

I’ve seen Brooklyn Nine-nine on a few posts now, and it’s new to me but sounds great. Riverdale I love. And Orphan Black was so amazing. I miss that show.

    • iloveheartlandx 05/09/2018 / 4:18 pm

It is so good, you should definitely check it out. Yes Riverdale is great. Me too, it was so awesome πŸ™‚

  21. thebookishlibra 05/09/2018 / 1:56 am

I’ve seen Brooklyn Nine Nine on a lot of lists today. I’m going to have to check that one out.

  22. 1girl2manybooks 05/09/2018 / 2:08 am

I identify a lot with British shows, both comedy and drama. I think Aussies do share a similar sense of humour. Someone recommended me Lovesick on Netflix recently and I’m loving it. It’s absolutely hilarious. Suits will be on my list after I finish The Fall I think.

    • iloveheartlandx 05/09/2018 / 4:15 pm

Yeah I’ve heard that from other Australians, though I have to say, I haven’t watched any Aussie comedies, so I don’t know if it goes both ways! Yes, Lovesick is awesome. Ooh you’re gonna love Suits, it’s great.

  23. I’ve seen Orphan Black on a few lists and it sounds really good although I have no idea what it’s about lol. Not having Netflix I haven’t watched most of these, but B99 is on E4 so yessss love itttt!

    • iloveheartlandx 05/09/2018 / 4:12 pm

It is-it’s about clones, basically the main woman in it is a clone and she plays all the different clones of herself, it’s like a sci-fi show, I think you’d like it. Ha ha yeah, these are pretty much all from Netflix. Right? B99 is the best!

  24. Diana 05/09/2018 / 8:21 am

Great list! I love Scandal and B99. I am a few seasons behind on Suits so I need to catch up on that. Riverdale and Good Place sound like shows that I need to watch so I am definitely getting them.

    • iloveheartlandx 05/09/2018 / 4:11 pm

Thanks! Yes they are both great. Ah I hope you enjoy all of them πŸ™‚

  25. Kathy @ Books & Munches 05/09/2018 / 8:22 am

I usually dislike anything history-related [sorry!] simply because.. well.. it being my worst ever subject at school left its mark, hah.
So I never expected to like Reign – AT ALL; but I did? It’s so weird. Like you said, the acting isn’t even half-bad and I think that helped a lot to be honest.

I’ve been seeing more and more regarding B99 but haven’t watched it. Like. I didn’t even know of its existence until a couple of weeks back when suddenly everyone started talking about it? Maybe I should check it out..

    • iloveheartlandx 05/09/2018 / 4:11 pm

Fair enough-that’s like me with Maths, I always sucked at it so I never really liked it. I’m glad you enjoyed Reign though! I actually think it helps if you don’t know much of the real history when you watch historical TV shows/films, because it means you’re not constantly picking it apart like I usually am! Oh you definitely should, B99 is AMAZING.

      • Kathy @ Books & Munches 06/09/2018 / 6:37 am

Haha, good thing there aren’t a lot of math-related shows then! At least not that I know of..
Hm, that’s definitely true! Although you could make it fun as well, since it does test your knowledge all the time. πŸ™‚
I will! Is it background-appropriate? Like, can I watch it while doing some cleaning / chores or should I really pay attention?

      • iloveheartlandx 06/09/2018 / 1:17 pm

Ha ha yeah that is a good thing! Oh yeah, I try to make a game out of it, see how many things I can pick up on that are wrong, stops you from tearing your hair out at how wildly inaccurate everything is. Yeah I think so, it’s mostly just really funny, so as long as you can hear the jokes, you’re good!

  26. alicerosesimmons 05/09/2018 / 2:42 pm

Great list! I love The Good Place and B99, and I have seen so many people talking about them this week, which makes me so happy πŸ™‚

    • iloveheartlandx 05/09/2018 / 3:55 pm

Thanks! Yeah I know, they’ve been everywhere, it’s so great πŸ™‚

  27. Mara 05/09/2018 / 5:01 pm

I can’t believe I haven’t seen any of these shows yet! I really need to watch them, especially The Good Place and B99. I keep seeing hilarious screencaps of those shows on Twitter but never actually go watch them, which has to stop! Pretty sure I’ll also be the last person on earth to watch Riverdale, but better late than never πŸ˜€

    • iloveheartlandx 05/09/2018 / 6:53 pm

Ah you should definitely watch all of them, they’re great! The Good Place and B99 are both hilarious. Ha ha, I’m sure it’s not just you πŸ™‚

  28. Aj @ Read All The Things! 05/09/2018 / 9:37 pm

I haven’t seen any of these, but I read a lot of historical fiction, so I’d probably like historical shows. (Even if they aren’t completely accurate.) πŸ™‚

    • iloveheartlandx 06/09/2018 / 1:22 pm

Yeah I’m sure you would! Honestly it really only bothers me because I’m a history student, and especially with Reign, I knew the history quite well!

  29. Heather Cilley 06/09/2018 / 4:25 am

I really LOVED seasons 1&2 of Crazy Ex Girlfriend but I wasn’t the biggest fan of season 3. I am hoping the final season is better! πŸ˜€ Thanks for reading my post!! Have an amazing rest of your week!

    • iloveheartlandx 06/09/2018 / 1:21 pm

I think the songs in season 1&2 were better but I still enjoyed season 3. I’m sure it will be great! Ah no worries, thank you πŸ™‚

  30. Cam @ Camillea Reads 06/09/2018 / 12:52 pm

Hearing about the historical inaccuracies in Reign is keeping me away from it. I don’t really know what to expect, though my mom has been urging me to give it a try. So I just may enjoy some trashy drama haha Orphan Black is also another show my mom keeps recommending me πŸ˜€ Just goes to show how behind I am on TV shows!

    • iloveheartlandx 06/09/2018 / 1:14 pm

I mean it is fun, it’s just that quite a lot of it is wildly inaccurate (though they do at least get the basics right, which is more than can be said for some historical TV shows!). Orphan Black is great! Ha ha don’t worry, I watch a lot of TV and still feel like I’m behind most of the time.

  31. Destiny @ Howling Libraries 06/09/2018 / 7:50 pm

Great list! I actually haven’t watched any of these (except for a few episodes of B99), but my partner and I have a “to watch” list, so I’ll have to show him these and see what he thinks of adding a few to our list! πŸ™‚

    • iloveheartlandx 07/09/2018 / 2:26 pm

Thanks! Oh I hope you guys find a few that you like πŸ™‚

  32. Shannon @ It Starts at Midnight 07/09/2018 / 1:49 am

Orphan Black was such an awesome show! And I enjoy Riverdale when it isn’t driving me crazy hahah. I really need to watch B99 and The Good Place, since every person I know seems to adore them! Fabulous choices!

    • iloveheartlandx 07/09/2018 / 2:26 pm

It was! Ha ha same. You definitely do, they’re both so great! Thank you πŸ™‚

  33. Annemieke 08/09/2018 / 12:37 pm

Oh yes Orphan Black is great. We really need to finish it.

    • iloveheartlandx 12/09/2018 / 9:18 am

It is! Ha ha I can see that, it’s just such fun to watch πŸ™‚

  34. Sarah @ SWB 09/09/2018 / 4:29 pm

Great list! I loved Scandal and I’ve been meaning to get into Suits, my best friend loves it so I may need to put it higher up my watch list!

    • iloveheartlandx 12/09/2018 / 9:18 am

Thank you! Yes Scandal was great. Oh you definitely should, Suits is awesome πŸ™‚

  35. Rissi 11/09/2018 / 4:36 am

I’ve heard good things about “Reign,” but never watched it, and am curious about ‘Crazy Ex’ just for laughs. Used to watch “Suits” all the time, but have fallen behind. Here’s to SOMEDAY catching up. πŸ™‚ Thanks for the Finding Wonderland visit last week – sorry it took me so long to return the visit!

    • iloveheartlandx 12/09/2018 / 9:17 am

Ah they’re both really good, would definitely recommend. Ha ha I can see how that would be easy to do, there are a LOT of episodes! No worries πŸ™‚

  36. anna@herding cats & burning soup 29/12/2018 / 4:40 am

Oh Orphan Black. I need to get back to those. I enjoyed them, too. And Riverdale. I have a blogger friend who loves those and I keep saying I need to check them out. They do look entertaining πŸ™‚

    • iloveheartlandx 29/12/2018 / 12:28 pm

Ah they were so good! They are, I mean it’s objectively terrible television but it’s darn entertaining!
