Hi everyone! I hope you’ve all had a good week since I last did one of these, at the moment it feels like I will never not be writing essays! But only one more week to go and I’ll finally emerge into a brief period of essay freedom, before getting buried again! But enough with my University student woes, it’s Tuesday and that means another Top Ten Tuesday courtesy of the lovely ladies over at The Broke and The Bookish. This week’s topic is a food themed freebie, which I love because food is you know….the best. So I’m going to talk about Food From Books That I Would Love To Try:
- Blue chocolate chip cookies-Percy Jackson-Rick Riordan
I would love to try Percy’s favourite food! I mean I’m sure they’re just chocolate chip cookies with blue food colouring and I love chocolate chip cookies so…..
2. Lemon Tarts-Heartless-Marissa Meyer
I’m not a huge fan of lemon, but Cath’s lemon tarts sounded so delicious, I would happily try them.
3. Ludmila’s Borodinsky Bread-The Crown’s Game-Evelyn Skye
Ludmila makes a bunch of delicious treats throughout The Crown’s Game in her bakery, but her Borodinsky Bread is supposed to be the best in Russia, so I would definitely want to try that!
4. Cauldron Cakes-Harry Potter-JK Rowling
I could have picked any number of things from JK Rowling’s Wizarding World because let’s face it, they have some amazing treats, but these are cakes and I do love cake!
5. Bruce Bogtrotter’s Chocolate Cake-Matilda-Roald Dahl
I mean this is one of the most iconic moments in Matilda, when Bruce eats that massive chocolate cake all by himself. And it looked (from the movie) and sounded like a really delicious cake, so I would love to try it!
6. Whipple-Scrumptious Fudgemallow Delight-Charlie and The Chocolate Factory-Roald Dahl
I mean it’s chocolate. With fudge and marshmallow and something whipped I guess. I don’t know but it sounds absolutely delicious!
7. Poison Kitchen’s Goulash-Daughter of Smoke and Bone-Laini Taylor
I would love to try Karou and Zusana’s favourite restaurant’s signature dish! I mean if only so I could go to Poison Kitchen because it totally sounds like my kind of place.
8. Cinnamon Twists-The Night Circus-Erin Morgenstern
All the food at The Night Circus sounded to die for, but I would especially love to try the cinnamon twists, along with the hot apple cider because they sound amazing!
9. Nina’s Waffles-Six of Crows-Leigh Bardugo
Those waffles have to be amazing for Nina to be so addicted to them and if Nina loves them then they’re definitely something that I want to try!
10. Ambrosia-Percy Jackson-Rick Riordan
Apparently Ambrosia tastes different to everyone and it triggers warm and happy memories and I love that! Let’s hope I’m a demigod though, because otherwise it would burn me alive!
This was actually a lot harder than I thought it would be! Clearly more books need to have memorable food in them. What fictional foods would you like to try? Do we share any? Let me know in the comments!
Next week’s topic is Top Ten Unique Book Titles, so that should be a fun one to do! You won’t hear from me again until next week when all of my assessments are done (at least for a while!), so I apologise for that and I’ll see you guys on the other side of my essay nightmare!
I wanted to try the lemon tarts too. They sounded amazing!
They did!
Caldron Cakes and Wonka bars made my list! Everything here just sounds so yummy! Now I’m hungry for cookies! Here’s my TTT: https://bookmuffin.wordpress.com/2017/10/17/anything-from-the-trolley-dears-fictional-foods-id-love-to-try/
Yay! Ha ha I know, I got starving whilst writing it π
Lemon tarts? Waffles? Cinnamon twists?? Um, YUMMY!! All of those sound good. π
I know right! I got hungry just making this list π
Yay! Someone mentioned the blue food from Percy Jackson! I just finished reading that series to my son. He loved all the monsters, lol.
Do You Dog-ear?
It’s one of my favourite parts of the series! Aww that’s great π
That chocolate cake in Matilda! I can’t believe I forgot about that– plus the chocolates!! When watching that movie, I always wanted to try that cake.
Ha ha yes me too! It looked so good π
YES to those lemon tarts! I’m a huge fan of lemon, so I’m sure I would love them!!
I’m not, but the book made them sound so tasty!
Ooh, everything you shared sounds yummy! I made mini lemon tarts for Heartless, and I also have a tart au citron recipe I want to try for that as well.
Thanks! Ooh cool, were they good?
Oh my god I TOTALLY forgot Bruce Bogtrotterβs Chocolate Cake!! Great list!
Thanks π
Oh my gosh! There are SO MANY foods on your list that went through my mind when I made my list. Nina’s waffles, anything from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Ambrosia, tons of food from Harry Potter, and all the baked goods from Heartless! How could I forget to add these?!
I didn’t realize there were so many bookish foods out there. I love it. I need more!
I don’t know! Me either actually, after seeing everyone’s lists, there’s more than I thought there was!
I want to try so many of these. π
Lauren @ Always Me
Me too π
I’ve seen the lemon tarts on a bunch of lists today. Like you, I’m not a huge lemon fan, but if so many people think they sound good I would give them a try π
Happy TTT!

Iβd eat all the food from Harry Potter. That stuff sounds so good!
Me too! It does right?
I love bread so the Borodinsky bread would probably be a must- try for me. And waffles. Blue chocolate chip cookies? If they’re chocolate chip I’ll eat ’em no matter the color!
Fun list.

Ha ha me too, bread is the best! Waffles are awesome and yes I agree, I’ll eat cookies no matter than colour. Thank you π
The goulash from Daughter of Smoke sounds delicious and I love the feel of that cafe. This is a great list!
It really does! Oh me too, it’s entirely my aesthetic. Thank you π
OMG! The chocolate cake from Matilda! I’ve always wanted to try that!! And how could I possibly forget about Charlie & The Cho Factory!
Great list! And goodluck with ur work!
Have a nice weekend! π
Me too! I have no idea, all that chocolate! Thank you π
Cake, cookies and tarts.. Okay, I might be craving sweetness right now..
Ha ha me too….
I’m seeing Heartless everywhere and it makes me want to finally pick up the book. Thank you for the reminder!
No problem! Hope you get to it soon π
Haha I didn’t even think of Nina from Six of Crows! She loves her food and I bet those waffles were delicious π
She does, smart girl that one! I bet they were π
Yes! I didn’t even think of that chocolate cake from Matilda! It really did look delicious in the movie (despite the looks of Cookie… ick). Great list!
Thank you! Yes it really did.
Wow you picked some really good food in books!! Now I’m hungry!!
Thanks! Ha ha me too π
I would LOVE to try Percy’s mom’s cookies!! Mom’s cookies are always the best!! Also I would eat anything Cath bakes bc everything in that book sounded DELICIOUS!!
Me too! Yes, they really are, my mum makes chocolate chip and orange ones and they’re the best! I would as well, I was salivating basically the entire way through that book π
Yes! I want to try the Lemon Cakes… in fact a party strictly with bookish food sounds amazing now…
Me too! Ooh that’s an amazing idea π
I would love to eat at Poison Kitchen! A few years ago I went to Prague and I was a little dissapointed when I found out that the restaurant does not really exist… And Nina’s waffles seem so popular! I really need to read Six of crow to find out what everyone is talking about…
Me too! Oh I know, I read an interview with Laini Taylor and found out it didn’t exist and was kinda bummed! You definitely should, Six of Crows is great π
So many great choices from the Harry Potter series. I’d love to try Butter Beer and Mrs. Botts Every Flavored Beans….if I was brave enough that is π
Thank you! I’ve tried both, Butterbeer is kinda gross but Every Flavoured Beans are decent if you get the right ones!
Oh my gosh, I am so ashamed of myself for forgetting about Bruce Bogtrotter’s chocolate cake! Great list. Have a wonderful week. – Katie
Ha ha well I think reading about that goes one of two ways, it either makes you hungry or sick! Thank you π
Oh this is all food Iβd love to try, especially the Poison Kitchenβs Goulas. Great picks for this week! π
Thank you!
Oh yes! I forgot about the ambrosia in Percy Jackson. That stuff always sounded awesome. π
Yes it did!
Bruce Bogtrotter’s cake…mm yes please!
Can’t go too wrong with chocolate cake!
SO MANY GOOD CHOICES. But especially the TARTS from Heartless and the Cauldron Cakes in HP. Literally just give me all the HP food!
Aww thank you! Yes same here, I think that’s one of the many reasons I love HP so much, the food is so good!
Cauldron Cakes and Whipple-Scrumptious Fudgemallow Delight sound so good!
They do right?
I always remember all the food in books!π It’s probably a problem but I can literally remember like all the types/kinds foods mentioned in whatever book. Ah. BUT YES TO MATILDA AND THE CAKE. (Although maybe…not as much as Bruce at…) And I absolutely love the food in Heartless and Daughter of Smoke and Bone trilogy. (I just finished the Night of Cakes and Puppets novella and omg the chocolate appreciation!!)
It’s totally not a problem, it’s like a superpower and one I wish I had! Ha ha yes, I’d probably eat maybe like half the cake that Bruce ate and save the rest for later! Me too, so much good stuff in there. Ooh that’s great to hear, I just bought Night of Cake and Puppets π
Hi! I can’t believe I left Charlie and the Chocolate Factory off my list this week! Such a great choice. π
My TTT
Leslie
Thanks!
Everything in The Night Circus made me so hungry! Roald Dahl is such a good shout, I hadn’t thought of his books but now you mention it I can’t believe I didn’t! The foods in his books are iconic!
Me too! Ha ha I didn’t until I was looking up books to include and then I remembered, yeah, his books do have some really good food!
Oooh big yes to Nina’s waffles! Also would love to try Cauldron Cakes and food from The Daughter of Smoke and Bone. Heartless is, of course, full of mouthwatering goodness also. Your choices are fantastic! I need to look into some of these solely because of the food choices… π
Yup waffles are so good! Me too, they sound amazing, and I totally forgot some of the brilliant pastries from DoSAB as well. Yes it is, I swear I was practically salivating while reading Heartless. Thank you!
Great list! The lemon tarts from Heartless made my list as well. I forgot about the cauldron cakes from Harry Potter or else I would have added those too.
Thanks! Yes they sounded delicious right? I basically added those just because of the word cake, I have no idea what they actually taste like, they could be disgusting for all I know!
Oh blue chocolate chip cookies. I kind of need those too.
I know right? I had a chocolate chip cookie tonight but it wasn’t blue and that’s kind of sad!
