Top Ten Tuesday #127

80e8d-toptentuesday

Hi everyone! I hope you’ve had a good week since I last did one of these, mine was relatively quiet, but I have a very busy week coming up! I’m going to see Hairspray in Glasgow with my friends tomorrow as a late birthday celebration, so I’m very excited for that. Anyway, it’s Tuesday again, so that means another Top Ten Tuesday from the lovely ladies over at The Broke and The Bookish. This week’s topic is Top Ten Book Boyfriends. I don’t know if it’s kind of weird for a 21 year old to still have crushes on 16/17 year old fictional boys, but that’s what you get when you read mostly YA I guess! And let’s face it, fictional guys are so much better than real ones. So here we go, my Top Ten Book Boyfriends:

  1. Percy Jackson-PJO, HOO & TOA-Rick Riordan

I would like to clarify that this is current 18 year old Percy rather than 12 year old Percy because that would be really weird (although when I was 14, it was 12 year old Percy, this has been a very long standing crush!). Percy’s sassy, goofy, loyal and lovable and I think he would be a great boyfriend. Of course we have the minor problem that I ship him and Annabeth……

2. Connor Lassiter-Unwind Dystology-Rick Riordan

Okay so he’s a bit reckless and has kind of a short temper, but he’s also really kind and sassy and sweet, and a bit self deprecating and I love that! Plus he’s so protective of Risa (his girlfriend in the novels), so you know he’d be a great boyfriend!

3. Peeta Mellark-The Hunger Games Trilogy-Suzanne Collins

HE BAKES. That is all. I could have bread and cake and other baked goods whenever I wanted and that’s a surefire way to my heart. Plus he’s cute and sweet and everything, but mostly the cake.

4. Dorian Havilliard-Throne of Glass series-Sarah J Maas

He’s actually around the same age as me, so this one wouldn’t be weird! I have a thing for tall, dark, handsome guys, so he definitely fits the bill, plus he likes to read and you barely ever find that in real life guys!

5. Kell Maresh-Shades of Magic Trilogy-VE Schwab

Kell is sassy and brooding, and a little lost and kind of flawed and you just want to give him a massive hug. Plus he has an awesome coat that hopefully if I was his girlfriend, he would let me share?

6. Rhy Maresh-Shades of Magic Trilogy-VE Schwab

Also sassy (I may have a problem with sassy guys) and incredibly charming and witty but also incredibly clever, he speaks loads of different languages and I find that so attractive in a guy. Plus I love the brotherly bond between him and Kell.

7. Will Greyton-The Glory-Lauren St John

If I could find a guy like this in my real life, I would be set. He’s kind, he loves horses, he wants to be a vet, he’s brave and generous and amazing and now I’m starting to realise why guys like this aren’t real.

8. Jin-Rebel of The Sands Trilogy-Alwyn Hamilton

Jin is cute, mysterious, charming and funny and really clever, definitely the sort of guy that I would love to date in real life.

9. Sam Cortland-The Assassin’s Blade-Sarah J Maas

WHY SARAH WHY? Sam is freaking boyfriend goals! He’s cute, sweet, snarky and just altogether perfect for Celaena, I would love to find a Sam Cortland in real life.

10. Newt-The Maze Runner Trilogy-James Dashner

Okay so this is slightly more based on the movie, because Newt in my head was nowhere near as hot as Thomas Brodie-Sangster, but still, Newt is British and I find his accent very sexy (and no I’m not biased just because I’m British. Irish accents are actually the sexiest).

So how about you? Who are your book boyfriends, or girlfriends, or both? Do we share any? Let me know in the comments!

Next week’s topic is about books that scream Autumn, so I’m going to be giving you Top Ten Books To Get You In The Mood For Autumn. I have recently finished Charlotte Says, so I’m hoping to get a review of that up soon, but I don’t know when as I have a lot of work to do this week!

Well I hope you enjoy the books these characters came from if you read them!

  1. Arika (onceuponabookishnerd) 03/10/2017 / 12:59 pm

I also had Jin from Rebel of the Sands! But I definitely agree with quite a few of your guys…so many good choices. I almost Percy Jackson on there too, haha but I had a few others that went above Percy. Though don’t feel bad, I’m in my late 20’s and still swoon over a few of these guys 🙂

    • iloveheartlandx 04/10/2017 / 12:29 am

Cool! Thank you. Ah Percy has always been my top one. Ha ha I don’t really feel too bad about it, I just like to make jokes! If only I were as lucky with real boys as fictional ones 🙂

    • iloveheartlandx 04/10/2017 / 12:28 am

He’s awesome, as are Peeta and Percy. Thank you. No problem, I’ll check out your list 🙂

    • iloveheartlandx 04/10/2017 / 12:28 am

Thank you! I mean he got Celaena a puppy, that basically secured his place in my heart forever 🙂

  2. Marie Dougan 03/10/2017 / 4:08 pm

Great list, I haven’t read all these books, but I have watched The Maze Runner. Thomas Brodie-Sangster, is slightly unfortunate because he’s almost 30 but looks much younger than his actual age. If I had to guess his age, I would say 17 at the oldest.

    • iloveheartlandx 04/10/2017 / 12:27 am

Thank you! Ha ha yes, he definitely does have a baby face 🙂

    Hi Jo!

Thanks for stopping by and linking me to your TTT.

So a teeny confession from me based on the fact that you’re going to watch Hairspray… Earlier this year I got to play Edna in my amateur theatre group’s production, because the guy who was playing the lead dropped us an hour before the show. It’s such an amazing role (obviously better suited to a man in drag), but the whole show is just my absolute favourite! I would love to watch a professional production of it. Enjoy the show, and happy belated birthday!

Also – I’m in my thirties, read and write YA, and I still get minor crushes on the characters. There is a teenage girl inside me that just never got to date her perfect guy and fictional heroes/villains just have to deal with her crushing on them in an attempt to relive her misspent youth. (That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.)

    • iloveheartlandx 04/10/2017 / 12:26 am

No problem! Oh that’s awesome, what an amazing opportunity. I love the movie, but I’ve never got to see a production of it, professional or otherwise, so I’m really excited!
Ha ha well that’s good to hear!

    • iloveheartlandx 04/10/2017 / 12:24 am

He is lovely! Yes Jin would be nice to be with too 🙂

  4. ChrissiReads 03/10/2017 / 5:57 pm

I could have easily put Peeta on my list! 🙂

  5. lindseyhabets 03/10/2017 / 6:57 pm

Percy, Peeta, Dorian, Kell, Rhy and Sam ❤ so many lovable characters 🙂

  6. Rissi 03/10/2017 / 7:16 pm

Aww, Peeta! (His baking is a huge advantage!!) Seeing him on a few lists this week reminds me I should have added him to my list too. He’s a memorable leading man, for sure!

Though I would have met Newt in the film (didn’t read the ‘Maze Runner’ book), I’ll confess haven’t met any of these other characters. 🙂

    • iloveheartlandx 04/10/2017 / 12:24 am

It really is! There are loads I forgot as well, YA sure has a lot of memorable leading men 🙂 Fair enough!

  7. abyssallibrarian 03/10/2017 / 9:00 pm

Unfortunately, I don’t know many of these characters, but I have to agree about Peeta! A great baker would be a huge plus for me as well.

  8. bookishowlette 03/10/2017 / 9:19 pm

Hey! Thnx for ur comment. Percy almost made it to my list. And I haven’t read Throne of Glass yet. but I’m sure that once I do, he will be included in mine! 😜

    • iloveheartlandx 04/10/2017 / 12:22 am

No problem! Ah too many cute fictional boys, too little time, the common problem. I hope you enjoy Throne of Glass when you read it!

  9. readingwithjessica 03/10/2017 / 9:33 pm

Dorian and Sam!! Love both of those guys! Great list!

  10. vendija723 03/10/2017 / 10:10 pm

Peeta! Conner! The Maresh “brothers”! Great ones. I really need to read Rebel of the Sands.

  11. Just Another Girl and her Books 03/10/2017 / 11:10 pm

So I am very solidly Team Gale in The Hunger Games, but Peeta’s baking does appeal to me. I can totally understand how he’d make a list because of that!

Have a wonderful week. – Katie

    • iloveheartlandx 04/10/2017 / 12:18 am

Fair enough! The way to my heart is definitely with cake, so Peeta had me just with that. Thank you, you too 🙂

  12. Birdie 03/10/2017 / 11:47 pm

Dude! Such an epic list! I was so excited reading this, because I actually read most of these books and I agree with a lot of them. Great picks!

  13. sosobooks100 03/10/2017 / 11:48 pm

I don’t even know what to say except YES YES YES!!!! I love all these people so much! Except for Percy because I don’t think I view him as a book boyfriend. Instead, I think of him like a brother or really close best friend. Something about his personality sends friendship vibes to me. I absolutely love him, of course, but not in that way, I THINK. Great list! Thanks for leaving your link on my post!

    • iloveheartlandx 04/10/2017 / 12:16 am

Ha ha thank you! Fair enough, that’s kind of the way I feel about Harry Potter, so I can understand it. No problem 🙂

  14. Jaime 04/10/2017 / 1:29 am

I really wanted to find a way to add Kell to my list as well, but there were so many others! Ahhh too many choices. And I don’t think I realized how great Newt was until I watched the Maze Runner movies. (But I also have zero memory of the first two books… so…)

    Of course, Percy. ❤

    • iloveheartlandx 04/10/2017 / 2:17 pm

Ah a classic bookworm problem, so many book boyfriends/girlfriends to choose from! I liked him in the books, but I LOVED him in the movies. Yup Percy, my first real bookworm crush 🙂

  15. KliScruggs 04/10/2017 / 1:49 am

LOL, I actually thought about putting Kell on my list too because we’re so alike. I, like Kell, am kind of a wet blanket and take everything seriously! I also love Kell as a character so much because I do identify with him. I love Rhy, but I’m nothing like him.

    • iloveheartlandx 04/10/2017 / 2:15 pm

Ah that’s interesting! It’s great when you find a character you really identify with. I would probably say I’m more like Rhy than Kell, I don’t take everything as seriously as Kell does!

      • KliScruggs 05/10/2017 / 1:46 am

Haha, I wish I was a little more lighthearted, but I’m too much of a stickler for the rules!

      • iloveheartlandx 05/10/2017 / 8:05 pm

Well it would be boring if we were all the same!

  16. LHauser27 04/10/2017 / 12:27 pm

Hi! No Peeta for me. Lol. It was Gale all the way! 🙂 Great list!

  17. stacybuckeye 04/10/2017 / 2:20 pm

I’d take a cute guy who can back me bread too 🙂

  18. Beth (Reading Every Night) 04/10/2017 / 7:37 pm

Great list for this week. I really loved all your picks but especially Kell; being able to borrow his coat would be amazing, and also potentially getting to travel with him through all the different London’s cannot be missed either. 🙂

    • iloveheartlandx 05/10/2017 / 8:31 pm

Thank you! Yes, I would love to borrow Kell’s coat and yes, it would be great to be able to travel through all the different Londons!

  19. The Wanderlust Reader 04/10/2017 / 7:45 pm

This is such a great list! 😍😍😍 Sam will forever be in my heart. 😭

  20. nessa luna (@octobertune) 04/10/2017 / 8:48 pm

Ah, yes Newt is a good one too, though I still don’t believe that Thomas Brodie Sangster is actually two years older than me instead of like ten years younger (he just has such a babyface?!)

    • iloveheartlandx 05/10/2017 / 8:21 pm

Ha ha I know, when I found out how old he was IRL, I couldn’t believe it!

  21. Tanya Atkinson 04/10/2017 / 10:08 pm

Aw, Peeta. What a great pick. Such a sweet, decent guy. And he would have done anything for Katniss.

    • iloveheartlandx 05/10/2017 / 8:18 pm

Thank you! Yes he is lovely, probably the closest to what I’d want from a real boyfriend of the guys on this list, though I’d be happy with any of them!

  22. littlefoxandreads 04/10/2017 / 10:26 pm

Yes, Kell and Rhy!! They have a special place in my heart ❤

  23. Nicole 06/10/2017 / 5:36 pm

Oooh, I forgot about Peeta. (and especially the cake) Also, I don’t think it’s weird for a 21-year-old to crush on a fictional teenager any more than I think it’s weird for a teenager to crush on fictional adults, and I *know* I did a lot of that when I was young. I think it’s just a sign of how well the characters were written.

    • iloveheartlandx 06/10/2017 / 9:24 pm

Ha ha I could never forget about the cake! That is very true, thanks, it makes me feel better!

  24. Eve L (Evilous) 07/10/2017 / 11:27 am

A bit late but yes so many amazing picks. I didn’t pick Sam or Dorian though I love them…I could have made the whole list with Sarah’s guys lol And Peeta, Newt….so many amazing book boyfriends!

    • iloveheartlandx 07/10/2017 / 11:07 pm

Ah no worries! Thank you 🙂 Ha ha yes, I could have too. Thanks!

  25. Annemieke 07/10/2017 / 12:48 pm

I’m kind of with you on Rhy and Kell. Those two are great and I love their bond as well.

    • iloveheartlandx 07/10/2017 / 11:08 pm

Thanks! Yes, they are awesome and have such a great bond 🙂
