I know it’s been ages since I last did one of these! What can I say, I was busy at Uni, but I’m back for the summer now, so hopefully I’ll be able to do these far more regularly than I have been (this is only my second one of the year if you can believe that!). Anyway, for this week’s Wishlist Wednesday, my first one in a while, I thought I’d focus on one of my most anticipated releases for the rest of the year, the newest Throne of Glass book. Okay, well I say most anticipated, I really anticipate it more because I like the characters than I like the direction the series has taken. I’m not going to lie and say that I was happy with the last book and the fact that the next book is going to be almost as long kind of fills me with dread, because there was so much filler in the last book. Anyway, enough of my rambling, let’s talk about the book!
The long path to the throne has just begun for Aelin Galathynius. As the kingdoms of Erilea fracture around her, enemies must become allies if Aelin is to keep those she loves from falling to the dark forces poised to claim her world. With war looming on all horizons, the only chance for salvation lies in a desperate quest that may mark the end of everything Aelin holds dear. Will Aelin succeed in keeping her world from splintering, or will it all come crashing down?
This fifth instalment in the sensational New York Times bestselling series is the most thrilling yet and cannot be missed.
Okay, so I’m in two minds about this book. On the one hand, I’m excited, I love these characters and I’m excited to see where they go from Queen of Shadows, but on the other hand Queen of Shadows was a let down. Big time. I loved Celaena but as Aelin, she did such a 180 personality twist that I no longer love her as I once did. I’m more reading for Manon, Elide, all the witches (basically, I love the witches, the witches were actually my favourite part of the last book), Dorian, Lysandra and Chaol. Aelin, Aedion and Rowan all kid of fell flat for me in the last book. I’m interested to see where the series goes next, but I’m definitely preceding with a bit more caution than I did before. I seriously hope I like this book better than the last one! I want to get to the end of the series, because I want to see how things turn out for the characters I love but at the same time, I don’t want to feel like reading the rest of the series is a slog. Hopefully this book will be better than the last and it was just a case of belated middle book syndrome!
I will hopefully be back with another Wishlist Wednesday post next week, but in the meantime, I will have a new Thursday Quotables post for you tomorrow, so make sure to check that out.
