Hey everyone! I’m back with another Top Ten Tuesday post for you all and the topic this week is Top Ten 2015 Releases That I Meant To Get To But Didn’t. This topic should be pretty easy for me because there were so many 2015 releases that I wanted to read but didn’t manage to get to last year. Hopefully I will be able to read at least some of these this year though (which will probably lead me to neglecting most of the amazing books that are being released this year, but hey, you win some, you lose some!). Here are my Top Ten 2015 releases that I meant to get to but didn’t:
- Ink and Bone-Rachel Caine-This one is probably kind of cheating, since I’m almost halfway through it already and really enjoying it, but I don’t care, it was one I really wanted to read last year, but didn’t get a chance to, so I’m reading it this year instead.
- Red Queen-Victoria Aveyard-I bought this book all the way back in summer last year, but never got around to it. It’s on my #RockMyTBR Challenge list and I’m planning to read it once I finish Ink and Bone, so I will definitely get to read this one this year.
- Unbound-Neal Shusterman-This one only came out at the end of last year, so I didn’t get a chance to read it then. But it’s no secret how much I love this series, so I am definitely looking forward to getting back into this world this year.
- Demon Road-Derek Landy-It’s been so long since I last got a good dose of Derek Landy and he’s one of my favourite authors, so I’m really looking forward to digging into his new series this year!
- Magnus Chase: The Sword of Summer-Rick Riordan-Again, it’s been a while since I last read any Rick Riordan, so I’m really looking forward to reading the first book of his new series this year.
- The Accident Season-Moira Fowley Doyle-This one seems like it will be a pretty quick and fun read, so I’m really excited for it.
- The Glory-Lauren St John-It’s been a while since a read a really good horse book and I liked the premise of this one. I bought it, so now all that’s left to do is read it!
- Pegasus and The Rise of The Titans-Kate O’Hearn-Technically I still have to read the fourth book in this series, but it wasn’t released in 2015!
- Challenger Deep-Neal Shusterman-I’m looking forward to trying more of Neal Shusterman’s work outside of the Unwind dystology.
- A Darker Shade of Magic-Victoria Schwab-I’ve heard such good things about this one that I hope I get the chance to read it soon.
I’m going to stick to just these ten this week, because I’m trying to catch up on the books I currently own this year rather than buying lots of new ones, so I didn’t want to add lots of 2015 releases that I don’t already own (only #10 on this list is one that I don’t own already). What 2015 releases did you want to read last year but didn’t get to? Do we share any? Let me know in the comments! Next week’s topic is Top Ten Books I Recently Added To My TBR, which also should be pretty easy for me because I’m constantly adding new books to my TBR. In the meantime, I just posted my first discussion post yesterday, about the casting of a black actress to play Hermione in the new Harry Potter play, so make sure to check that out.
Hiya, A Darker Shade of Magic was amazing. I hope you get a chance to read it soon. I’d like to read Ink and Bone too but I’m going to wait for Paper and Fire to be released in July now. I wasn’t overly impressed with Red Queen, hopefully you will enjoy it more than I did. Victoria Aveyards writing is really nice though, it was just the plot that didn’t work for me.
Happy Reading
Rachel @ Paein-and-Ms4Tune
I hope so too, though I’m trying to work on my already owned books this year, so it depends how far I get with that as to when I can start buying new books again. I’ve had Ink and Bone since last July, so I figured I may as well start it now. I have heard mixed things about Red Queen but I’d like to make up my own mind. Thanks! Happy Reading to you too.
I found this week really hard, mostly for the reason that I didn’t want everyone to know about all the fabulous books I failed to read last year! Red Queen made my list this week too and has been sat on my bookshelf since March last year! Also I am so behind with my Rick Riordan books that I think I just need to read them all again! The Accident Season does look really good. I will have to check that one out at some point too!
Yeah that is true, I failed to read so many great 2015 releases last year! Yeah Red Queen’s been sat on my bookshelf for ages. I’m not so far behind on Rick Riordan’s books that I need to read them all again, and I’ve only had Sword of Summer for a few months, so I don’t feel so bad about that one. Yeah The Accident Season does look great, you definitely should check it out.
I need to read Magnus as well. So far I’ve only read his Percy Jackson series. I need to read more of his. Here’s my TTT http://angelerin.blogspot.com/2016/01/top-ten-tuesday-top-twenty-2015.html?m=0
I’ll make sure to check your TTT out!
I didn’t realise Kate O’Hearn’s Pegasus series was still publishing! I have the first two books but haven’t gotten around to them yet. I left 2015 still having failed to read a Rick Riordan book – maybe that’s what I should aim to do this year.
Yeah it is! I thought the fourth book was the last one, but then I saw that there was a fifth one and apparently she’s going to write a sixth one, so still plenty more to come. You should definitely try them, they’re great. Oh Rick Riordan is great, you should definitely try to read some of his books this year.
Ink and Bone, and Red Queen are both reslly good. Worth the wait for sure
That’s good to hear! I’m really enjoying Ink and Bone so far.
Oh so many books! How are we to read them all?! My TTT List, which overlaps none of yours, but I can vouch for Darker Shade. Schwab’s books are amazing. Also, Accident Season is well worth your time too.
I don’t know! That’s good to hear, I’ve heard a lot of great stuff about it so I’m really excited for it, The Accident Season too.
Too many good books, not enough hours in the day! I missed out on several of these as well! There’s always this year 🙂
Thanks for stopping by JUBB 🙂
I know right! Yeah I am definitely planning on getting these read this year! No problem.
I loved Red Queen and I just got Ink and Bone for Christmas (it’s on my list too). I remember wanting to read The Accident Season when it came out and then forgot all about it. If you do end up liking Red Queen, you won’t have to wait very long for the sequel. 😀
That’s good to hear. I’m really enjoying Ink and Bone so far, so hopefully you will too. Yeah I’ve had The Accident Season for ages and it’s just been sitting on my shelf forgotten for months! That is true, always a benefit of being late to read a series book!
OOh – Red Queen. I really should get around to read that one soon…
Yeah me too!
Ink and Bone made my list this week too! I really want to read Magnus Chase though! I got a copy in November. I hope you get to read all of these 😀
Here are my Top Ten!
Thanks! I hope you get to read everything that you want to read too.
I was able to read Red Queen and I loved it! I think I’m going to try and reread it before the second comes out next month but that’s probably wishful thinking. I also never got around to reading A Darker Shade of Magic but I’m hoping to get the chance soon. So many books yet so little time!
Glad to hear that! Oh I know, it’s so annoying, I wish I had more time to read all the books I want to!
I really enjoyed Ink and Bone too! I can’t wait for the next book to come out.
I’m enjoying it so far! Hopefully the rest of it is just as good as the stuff I’ve read so far.
The Accident Season was one of my favorites! I liked Red Queen too. Challenger Deep is one I would love to get to at some point. Hope you get to read all of these!!
Good to hear! Thanks I hope so too!
THE ACCIDENT SEASON was awesome, I hope you enjoy it!
Good to hear! I hope so too!
How could I forget A Darker Shade of Magic? Thanks for stopping by today. Happy reading
I don’t know! No problem. Happy reading to you too!
A Darker Shade of Magic is excellent. The next installment is coming out soon so you can always read them back to back.
Ooh, that’s a good idea! Always love a good binge read!
Nice lice of books on your TTT post this week!! A few of them I’d like to read myself. Thank you for stopping by and leaving me a comment on my TTT post this week. Happy reading!
Thanks! Hope you manage to read all the ones you want to. No problem. Happy reading to you too!
I wanted to read Ink and Bone too! I did manage to read the new Rick Riordan, Red Queen, The Accident Season, and Challenger Deep. I highly recommend all of them. Thanks for visiting my blog today too!
It’s been really good so far. That’s good to hear! No problem.
Even though I didn’t include it on my TTT this week, I still need to read A Darker Shade of Magic too. There’s a group buddy read on twitter for Red Queen with a lot of people participating in the Rock My TBR challenge. It runs for the entire month of January, so you can always join. Some people finished it already while some people haven’t started, so you’d fit right in if you are interested. 🙂
Good to hear I’m not the only one! If I end up starting Red Queen before January is over, then I will definitely check that out. Thanks for the tip!
I loved Red Queen. It made my top 10 books of last year! I am counting down the days until the sequel 🙂
That’s good to hear! Hopefully I enjoy it just as much.
Me too 🙂
I loved Ink and Bone, and it ended up being one of my favourite books last year! I hope you absolutely love it 😀 I didn’t enjoy Red Queen as much as I’d expected to, unfortunately. It’s been hyped up so much, I think I was taken in a bit too much
I really hope you love it, though! Thanks for stopping by my blog earlier!
I’m really enjoying it so far so I have high hopes! I think I kind of missed most of the hype for Red Queen, so I’m glad I’m reading it now! Thanks! No problem.
I was debating putting A Darker Shade of Magic on my TTT! I have some interest in it, but it isn’t like I’m needing to pick it up. It has been such a long time since I’ve read Rick Riodran as well! Hopefully I’ll get back into his writing. I want to read Sword of Summer, but I kind of feel like finishing up the Kane Chronicles first. I read the first two books a really long time ago, so I’d have to reread the two before wrapping it up. I cheated too in this post by putting my current read (now finished!) on their as well! 😀 Great minds thing alike I guess! XD
Great list!!
It was tough to decide which 2015 release on my TBR that I didn’t already I own I was most excited for, eventually I landed on that one. I haven’t actually read The Kane Chronicles, for whatever reason I’ve never really felt inclined to read them and Magnus Chase appealed to me more. Yeah I wondered whether I should include my current read or not, but I am reading it this year rather than when it was released so I figure it’s only cheating a little not a lot! I guess they do. Thank you!
Great list! I wanted to read A Darker Shade of Magic last year as well, hopefully I’ll get to it this year because I’ve been hearing amazing things about it! Ink and Bone sounds amazing, adding it my tbr 🙂
Thanks! Yeah I’ve been hearing amazing things about it too, so I’m hoping I get to it this year. Ink and Bone has been really good so far!
Red Queen, The Sword of Summer and A Darker Shade of Magic are all soooo good! I hope you love them when you get to them!
Good to hear! I hope so too!
Aaaaah, a Darker Shade of Magic was amazing! I hope you enjoy it!
Glad to hear it! I hope so too!
I like having books in common! The Accident Season and Challenger Deep are definitely on my list to read soon! Good luck with these books. 🙂
Me too! Makes me feel less bad for having not read all of these yet! Thanks!
We do indeed share a couple of books! And, I really do need to read the rest of the Shusterman books – drat, adds yet more books to the not yet read pile!
Lynn 😀
The joy and the curse of the TTT post, you get more books to read, but you don’t have time to read them!
I absolutely loved Challenger Deep–it might actually be my favorite 2015 release. Neal Shusterman is amazing. The Sword of Summer is also fantastic. (And completely hilarious.) And I loved Ink and Bone!
Thanks for stopping by @ Spellbound!
That’s great to hear! Hopefully I enjoy them all as much as you did. No problem!
I loved Ink and Bone, Red Queen and A Darker Shade of Magic when I read them so I hope you do as well. In my opion they’re all brilliant books 🙂
I really need to start the Percy Jackson series; so far I’ve only seen the first film, which I honestly don’t think can compare, and the books have some great reviews.
I’m really enjoying Ink and Bone so far and hope I enjoy Red Queen and A Darker Shade of Magic as much. No, no, you definitely can’t compare the film! It’s completely different. The books are so much better, you should definitely read them.
I hope the rest of Ink and Bone lives up to what you’ve read so far then, and I think if you like that book you should like Red Queen and A Darker Shade of Magic as well.
Yeah I tend to say the same thing when people say to me they’ve only seen the films and not read the books, mainly in conversations with my friends about The Hunger Games trilogy 🙂 Percy Jackson is definitely on my to-read list for the first half of this year.
I’ve got a good feeling about it. Oh that’s good! Yeah I’ve said the same thing to many people who say they’ve seen the film but haven’t read the book, because you really can’t possibly compare the two! Good, I hope you enjoy it!
Normally I try and read the books before I see the films but it didn’t quite work out that way with the Percy Jackson series. Based on all the book to film adaptations I’ve already seen though the book is always way better than the film so I think the Percy Jackson series will follow the same pattern, well I hope it will 🙂
Hope you enjoy them 🙂
I just picked up a copy of Ink and Bone and can’t wait to read it! 😀
Hope you enjoy it!
Demon Road’s the only one of these books that I’ve read. It was a bit strange reading it because it felt a bit like the Skulduggery Pleasant books, in the sense of humour and the way it was written, but at the same time it wasn’t Skulduggery and it ultimately just made me miss Skulduggery :(. I’m still looking forward to the second book, which I think will be better because Demon Road had a lot of setting up of the plot and the world. It’s not Skulduggery, but Derek Landy’s writing is always worth reading.
Oh really? I have been slightly worried that I’ll be constantly comparing it to Skulduggery, but the sense of humour is one of my favourite things about Skulduggery, so I’m glad to hear that it still has that. Oh I totally agree, anything that Derek Landy has written is definitely worth reading.
Hopefully you get to read all these this year. I’ve heard so many good things about Ink and Bone! Hopefully you’re enjoying it so far 🙂
I hope so too! I am actually, it’s been really good so far!
Ooo, not on my list but I plan on reading Red Queen and Magnus Chase this year too – both are 2015 goodreads Award winners!
Let’s hope we both enjoy them!
YES to Ink and Bone – I hope to read that one this year as well!
I’m reading it at the moment and it’s been really good so far!
I don’t know most of these books 😮 apart from the ones we share on our lists. Ah well, more books for me to look up and fall in love with! Great list! 🙂
Thanks! Glad to have introduced you to some new books!
I really want to read the Unwind series! I’ve heard amazing things. A Darker Shade of Magic was one of my favorite books of 2015, so I hope you love it!
It is amazing, you definitely should read it! A Darker Shade of Magic sounds like just the sort of book I would love (basically any book with any kind of magic I love), so I have high hopes!
Horse books are so great! I hope you enjoy The Glory when you get to it.
I know, I love them! Thanks, I hope so too!
Challenger Deep and A Darker Shade of Magic are both really great! I loved the format and narrative style of Challenger Deep. I’ve had a request on The Accident Season from my library for months! I’m almost to the top of the list, so I’m looking forward to it!
Thanks for stopping by the The Local Muse
That’s good to hear! Hope we both enjoy The Accident Season.
In hindsight, Ink & Bone should have been on my list because I started it in 2015 but never finished it. Glad to hear you are enjoying it. Or you were at the time of this writing. You’ve probably finished by now.
Any reason why you never finished it? Yeah I am and no I haven’t finished it yet, I don’t schedule my posts so the time I was writing it was yesterday morning!
I was so curious about Unbound that I searced about it. Damn, I read the summary! I only read the first book and now it’s spoiled 😦
great list though! I want to read Accident Season too 🙂
I’m sure you can still enjoy reading the rest of the series even if you’ve read the summary for Unbound. There’s a lot that happens between Unwind and that book! Thanks! Yeah, it sounds great doesn’t it?
Challenger Deep looks intriguing! It’s also on my TBR list! 😀
Yeah it does, doesn’t it? let’s hope we both enjoy it!
Great list! I’ve been eyeing off The Accident Season myself, sounds intriguing. Hope you get to cross some of these books off your list this year! 🙂
Thanks! I hope so too, most of these books are on my #RockMyTBR Challenge list, so I should be able to cross them off my list this year!
It took me a little bit to get into Ink and Bone but then I was hooked!
Yeah it took me a little bit too, but I am definitely hooked now!
Thanks for visiting my blog!
No problem!
Red Queen was so good! I loved it so much! 🙂
I have Ink and Bone, A Darker Shade of Magic, and The Accident Season on my TBR too and it would have been nice to get to those in 2015. Great list!
That’s great to hear! Hope you manage to get to all of those this year. Thanks!
Magnus Chase was awesome! 😀 Sadly, I haven’t read any of the others either haha 😉
Good to hear! I’m really looking forward to it, can’t wait to read more Rick Riordan.
Yay! Love Rick Riordan 😀
Me too 🙂
Great list!! I read The Accident Season last year and really enjoyed it! I hope you do too 🙂
Thanks! The Accident Season seems like it will be a fun book to read, so I hope I enjoy it too!
I read The Red Queen. It was pretty good. 🙂
Hope I like it as much as you did then 🙂
Yes, I agree, Ink and Bone is so good! I read The Accident Season last year and really enjoyed it, but I was pretty mixed about Red Queen, even though I’ll read the sequel. You should definitely read A Darker Shade of Magic, it was one of my favourites of the year!
Yeah, I’ve been really enjoying it so far. Oh that’s good to hear about The Accident Season. A lot of people have been saying that about Red Queen but I’d like to make up my own mind about it. I definitely will try to get to it as soon as I can!
I can’t believe I forgot about Demon Road!! I mean, never got past the second Skullduggery Pleasant book, but I really wanted to read that one. 😦 …I guess I can always steal it from my brother over the summer of something.
Yeah, you definitely should! Shame you didn’t manage to finish The Skulduggery Pleasant series though, I love those books!
