Top Ten Tuesday #30

First off, I would like to apologise for being so MIA the last couple of weeks, I’ve been busy with Uni and other personal stuff (which I’m not going to go into here) kind of got in the way last week but I’m back now and hoping that this week I’ll actually be able to do a full week of posts for you all! Anyway, back to this week’s Top Ten Tuesday and this week’s topic is book to movie adaptations that I’m looking forward to. I have a love/hate relationship with book to movie adaptations because on the one hand, I love seeing the books I love brought to life on the big screen, but on the other hand, I get very, very angry when they are done wrong! (I’m sure all bookworms can relate to this right?). Anyway these are the book to movie adaptations that I’m looking forward to:

  1. Mockingjay: Part 2-I didn’t much like the last book in the Hunger Games series, but I actually enjoyed the first movie adaptation a lot more than I thought I would, so I’m really excited to see this last movie in the Hunger Games franchise.
  2. The Scorch Trials-Yes I know this movie has been out for ages, but basically, I saw the first movie with my two best friends and we promised that we would wait until we were all together to see this one and I haven’t had a chance to see both of them together for a while, so I’m still waiting! I really enjoyed the first movie, so I’m hoping this one is equally good.
  3. The Death Cure-Is it bad to be excited for the last movie in a series when you haven’t even seen the second one yet? I don’t think so! Having read this book, I know the movie is just going to break my heart.
  4. Beauty and The Beast (live action version)-Okay, this is kind of cheating since I’ve never actually read the fairytale or anything like that, but the Disney movie is one of my favourites and the cast for this is absolutely amazing! Emma Watson as Belle, Ewan McGregor as Lumiere……could it get any more perfect?!! Why, oh why do we have to wait until 2017 for this?
  5. Unwind-It’s in production everyone! Still no news on casting which is sad, but according to Neal Shusterman, the casting process has begun and hopefully filming will start next year, which makes me very happy! This is one film that I am definitely excited to see!
  6. Allegiant Part 1: Okay, so I haven’t read the book yet and knowing the spoiler for the end is still making me reluctant to read it, but I’m hoping to have read it by the time the first part of the two part final movie comes out because I’ve really enjoyed the films so far (though seriously, why every single final movie in a series has to be split into two, I don’t know. It was okay when Harry Potter did it, but now everyone’s doing it and it’s just sad!).
  7. The Girl On The Train-I haven’t read this book yet (I really want to) but apparently, the movie version comes out next year (so I really need to get on this) and from what I’ve heard of it, it sounds like a great book that will make a really great movie!
  8. A Series of Unfortunate Events-This is slightly cheating, because I’m not looking forward to the movie (seen it already, okay but nothing worth cheering about), I’m looking forward to the Netflix original series! The movie didn’t really live up to the books, so I’m hoping that the TV series may be better able to capture the spirit of the books!
  9. Thirteen Reasons Why-This was meant to be a film, but now it turns out has been optioned for a TV mini series. I just hope it actually happens because I really want to see this story brought to life on screen!
  10. Throne of Glass-This has been optioned for TV, how did I not know this until today? I need this now. NOW.

I will be back next week with a new Top Ten Tuesday, next week’s topic is Top Ten Quotes I Loved From Books I Read in the past year or so, which if you read my Thursday Quotables posts regularly, you can imagine that I’m really excited for! In the meantime however, I promise that tomorrow I actually will have a new Wishlist Wednesday post for you all, to make up for how awful I’ve been at getting my posts out on time the past few weeks!

The Girl on the train is going to be a film!?!?!!?!?

that is going to be awesome! Great list btw totally missed off Beauty and the beast – that’s going to be so fantastic!

    • iloveheartlandx November 10, 2015 / 2:50 pm

Yeah it is! Hopefully it will be, it’s not coming out until next year, so I should have time to read the book before it comes out! Thanks! Yeah Beauty and The Beast is going to be incredible!

  2. rachelburden November 10, 2015 / 2:13 pm

Hi! Glad to hear you’re back, I think everyone seems to be juggling work, life and blogging at the moment. I know I am. I’m the same with adaptations its infuriating when they leave out or change the best bits of a book! I love your choices. I’d forgotten about Beauty and the Beast! I just love the cast line up, especially the idea of Ewan McGregor as Lumiere! I had no idea that they were doing The Girl on the Train though, but it makes sense seeing as it’s been a best seller. And OMG Throne of Glass and Thirteen Reason’s Why as TV series? Why did I not no this! I really can’t wait for 2016

    Happy Reading
    Rachel @ Paein-and-Ms4Tune

    Ps thanks for stopping by!

    • iloveheartlandx November 10, 2015 / 2:48 pm

Thanks! It makes me feel much better to know that I’m not the only one struggling with this! I think we’re all like that, we all have our favourite parts of books and if they leave them out, even if it wasn’t important, you will notice! Thank you! I know, the cast for Beauty and The Beast sounds really amazing doesn’t it? Why do we have to wait so long for it?! Neither did I actually, until today, but like you say, it’s a bestselling book, so it’s not a surprise they’re making a film out of it! Again, I didn’t know about Thirteen Reasons Why or Throne of Glass until today, but now I know, I’m really excited! 2016 should be a great year for book to screen adaptations!
      No problem!

  3. Catherine November 10, 2015 / 3:15 pm

I didn’t know they were re-doing Series of Unfortunate Events! I really liked the film, but with so many books I guess a series can do them justice better πŸ™‚ Great list!

    • iloveheartlandx November 10, 2015 / 4:15 pm

Thanks! Yeah they are, I liked the film too, but it missed a lot of stuff out, cramming three books into one film so I hope the TV series will be a little better.

  4. fiddlerblue November 10, 2015 / 3:40 pm

What is Unwind about? I don’t think I’ve read it yet XD and I agree about Beauty and the Beast, I cant believe I forgot to add it! And yes to the Netflix version of Series of Unfortunate Events, I think it’s going to be a great version.

    • iloveheartlandx November 10, 2015 / 4:17 pm

Oh it’s really cool, it’s about a dystopian society where after a war abortion became illegal but as a compromise between pro-life and pro-choice, parents can choose to have their children unwound (taken apart). It sounds creepy but it’s really good! Yes, Beauty and The Beast will be incredible! I think so too, I can’t wait to see what it’s like.

  5. Amy November 10, 2015 / 3:49 pm

I’m so excited to see Emma Watson as Belle!! Omg I can’t wait till they start doing things towards the ToG TV series!!! I am literally dying to find out who they want as Celaena!!! And Chaol! And Dorian! And basically everyone! I’m just excited LOL!!

    Great list πŸ™‚

    • iloveheartlandx November 10, 2015 / 4:19 pm

Me too! She’s going to be perfect! Neither can I and I only found out about it today! I know, it’s going to be so great to see who they cast in the main roles! Unwind is really good, you definitely should get to it! Thanks!

  6. (bargain)bookbliss November 10, 2015 / 4:05 pm

I did NOT know that Unwind was going to be a movie!!!! All the more reason to pick up the book. I’ve heard such good things – thanks for letting me know. To the top of the TBR!

    • iloveheartlandx November 11, 2015 / 3:47 pm

It’s a really good book, you should definitely try to!

  14. Ayunda November 11, 2015 / 3:39 pm

I haven’t watched The Scorch Trials yet either. And it’s so cool that you made a promise to watch it with your friends, I saw the first movie with my friends as well ☺️

    • iloveheartlandx November 11, 2015 / 3:48 pm

  15. anovelglimpse November 11, 2015 / 3:41 pm

After reading this, I really want to see the live action Beauty and the Beast!

    • iloveheartlandx November 11, 2015 / 3:49 pm

I do too! Why does its release date have to be so far away?!

  16. Zhana @ Confessions of an addict November 11, 2015 / 5:01 pm

I really liked The Scorch Trials. I have not read the books, so I didn’t have any expectations or any idea what was going to happen. I’ve heard that the movie was a let down for some people. who’ve read the books…

    • iloveheartlandx November 11, 2015 / 5:04 pm

That’s good to hear, I hope I’ll like it as much. Yeah I have heard that they changed a lot from the books, but they changed quite a bit in The Maze Runner and I still enjoyed that, so I have high hopes!

  17. Erika November 11, 2015 / 5:24 pm

Throne of Glass has been optioned for TV? Omg omg omg omg!!!! Great list πŸ˜€

  19. Mallory @ The Leaning Tower of Tomes November 11, 2015 / 6:09 pm

  20. faye @ paperbacklyreviews November 11, 2015 / 6:49 pm

I had no idea that a lot of these were being made into tv shows/movies. Like Throne of Glass and 13 Reasons Why? Those are definitely going on my list to see!! I can’t wait for most of these.

    • iloveheartlandx November 11, 2015 / 9:18 pm

I only found out about both of those yesterday, and I almost squealed in excitement! Neither can I!

  21. Alicia @ A Kernel of Nonsense November 11, 2015 / 7:03 pm

  22. coloursaur November 11, 2015 / 7:35 pm

Damn, I didn’t know the Neal Shusterman series was being adapted – I definitely need to catch up with it. I also hadn’t heard about 13 Reasons Why OR The Girl On The Train – thank you for educating me! Great list πŸ™‚

    • iloveheartlandx November 11, 2015 / 9:17 pm

Yeah it is! You definitely do. No problem, I actually only found out both of them were being adapted yesterday! Thanks!

  23. Amanda November 11, 2015 / 8:20 pm

I’m super excited about Beauty and the Beast!

  24. Diana November 11, 2015 / 8:36 pm

Looking forward to Mockingjay definitely. And 13 Reasons Why.

  25. Nicole @ Books and Starlight November 11, 2015 / 9:43 pm

I haven’t read the sequels for The Maze Runner yet and I’m not sure if I’m planning to, but I should check out the second movie. The first was okay, but kinda not what I expected. And yes to Throne of Glass, all the yeses!

    • iloveheartlandx November 11, 2015 / 9:44 pm

The sequels are okay, but so far I actually prefer the movies. I know right! Throne of Glass TV show will be all kinds of awesome!

  26. Sarah November 11, 2015 / 9:47 pm

The Scorch Trials was really good so I’m sure you’ll enjoy it. I hadn’t heard Throne of Glass has been optioned for TV! That’s very exciting news, I really hope it gets made πŸ™‚

    • iloveheartlandx November 11, 2015 / 9:48 pm

I hope so! I only found out yesterday, when researching upcoming adaptations for this post! I hope so too, because it should be brilliant!

  27. Shon @ Tangled 'N' Books November 11, 2015 / 10:04 pm

I am very excited for Mockingjay part 2. I have still not watch The Maze Runner. I can’t wait to see Emma Watson as Belle. Allegiant, I did not like the last book in the Divergent series. Did you know that they renamed the movies, it is no longer called Allegiant Part 1 and Allegiant Part 2. They are now call Allegiant and Ascendant. Thanks for sharing and for stopping by our blog.

    • iloveheartlandx November 11, 2015 / 10:06 pm

Me too! You should, it’s a good movie. Me either, she will be brilliant! I haven’t actually read Allegiant yet, but I’m still excited for the movie. It remains to be seen whether I’ll like the book or not. Yes, I did know that, but I only found it out after I wrote this post! No problem!

  28. Amy November 11, 2015 / 10:44 pm

Great list! I need to catch up with The Maze Runner films as well.

  29. Literary Feline November 11, 2015 / 11:23 pm

I hope things are starting to settle down for you both on the school front and on the personal one.

I enjoyed reading your list. πŸ™‚ I hadn’t known Netflix was doing A Series of Unfortunate Events. I hope it turns out well. I read the first three books in the series and thought they were cute. I never conntinuted on because the three I read were all basically the same. I’m looking forward to seeing Beauty and the Beast too. I was surprised how much I liked Cinderella, which was recently made into live action, so my hopes might be higher than they should be.

    • iloveheartlandx November 11, 2015 / 11:32 pm

Thanks a lot, I’m still busy with Uni, but things do seem to be settling down in my personal life. I’m glad! So do I, the movie was pretty dire, so I’m hoping the Netflix series is better. The first half of the series is pretty similar in terms of story, so I can understand why you didn’t finish it. I haven’t seen Cinderella yet, it was never my favourite Disney movie, but I’ve heard good things about the live action movie, so I might. Yeah my hopes are really high too, Beauty and The Beast is one of my favourite Disney movies, so I hope they do it well.

  30. Kate Puleo Unger (Mom's Radius) November 11, 2015 / 11:39 pm

I forgot that Emma Watson is going to play Belle. I really want to see the live action Beauty and the Beast as well. Great list!

  31. Liza @ Reading with ABC November 12, 2015 / 12:18 am

Mockingjay!!! I can’t wait for that one. Beauty and the Beast is my favorite fairy late so I’m looking forward to that one for sure. Great list!

    • iloveheartlandx November 12, 2015 / 11:45 am

Me too! I know right, Beauty and The Beast is my second favourite Disney movie (only topped by The Lion King) so I can’t wait to see the live action version. Thank you!

  32. jen7waters November 12, 2015 / 12:47 am

Ok, so, if you ever feel like it, read Beauty by Robin McKinley, it’s the best Beauty and the Beast version I’ve ever read and rumor has it that the Disney animation was inspired by it, but shhh. (Sorry, you didn’t ask for book recommendations but I couldn’t help myself, and you said you have never read the fairytale.)

    • iloveheartlandx November 12, 2015 / 11:44 am

It’s fine, I always love getting new recommendations, I’ll have to check that one out!

  33. Jess @ Little Book Heaven November 12, 2015 / 2:42 am

I am so excited for Beauty and The Beast! I think Emma Watson will make an excellent Belle. Great list. Thank you for stopping by. πŸ™‚

    • iloveheartlandx November 12, 2015 / 11:43 am

Thanks! Me too, I totally agree, Emma Watson will be a great Belle! No problem!

    • iloveheartlandx November 12, 2015 / 11:43 am

It’s alright, I’ve been thinking the same thing looking at other people’s lists! I know, 8 more days to go!

  34. rosemawrites November 12, 2015 / 4:12 am

Oooh! I would love to see Beauty and the Beast too! πŸ˜€

  35. ChrissiReads November 12, 2015 / 6:00 am

It’ll be really interesting to see what they do with The Girl On The Train! Great list. πŸ™‚

  36. foxyblogs1 November 12, 2015 / 6:43 am

Great list. I’m looking forward to The Girl On The Train too. I also haven’t read the book. I might need to change that before the movie comes out. πŸ™‚ ❀

    • iloveheartlandx November 12, 2015 / 11:41 am

Thanks! Yeah we definitely both should change that before the movie comes out! It’s not out till late next year, so we have time!

  37. Broc's Bookcase (@BrocsBookcase) November 12, 2015 / 11:55 am

I haven’t read The Girl on the Train, but there has been a lot of hype surrounding it so can tell already that film is going to be a popular one! SO excited for Mockingjay, and I still haven’t watch the Scorch Trials either.
I totally forgot about Beauty and the Beast! But totally agree with you, the cast looks amazing. Excited for that one! πŸ™‚

    • iloveheartlandx November 12, 2015 / 12:09 pm

Neither have I actually, but from what I’ve heard of the book it sounds great (and I fully intend to read it before seeing the film!) and the film should be a good one. I know right! Only 8 days to go! Glad to hear I’m not the only one who hasn’t seen Scorch Trials yet! Me too! Beauty and The Beast is one of my favourite movies, so hopefully the live action version is just as good as the animated one!

  38. readerbuzz November 12, 2015 / 12:07 pm

I was wondering how Series of Unfortunate Events movie went. I was pretty sure it would be a disappointment. No way to make that wonderful series a movie.

    • iloveheartlandx November 12, 2015 / 12:10 pm

Oh yeah, the movie they made of it a while ago with Jim Carrey wasn’t that great, but hopefully the Netflix TV series might be able to do the books more justice.

  39. bookstacksamber November 12, 2015 / 1:37 pm

I didn’t know Unwind was being made into a film! That makes me want to read the series even more.

    • iloveheartlandx November 12, 2015 / 2:15 pm

Yeah it is! You definitely should, it’s a brilliant series.

  40. onenightbookstandblog November 12, 2015 / 2:20 pm

I totally forgot about Beauty and the Beast! I can’t wait to see that, especially with that amazing cast!!

  41. The Great Gabsby November 12, 2015 / 2:41 pm

Ooo Throne of Glass! I’ve been meaning to read the book. Didn’t know that there was a movie coming out!

    • iloveheartlandx November 12, 2015 / 6:39 pm

Yeah, it’s just been optioned for TV. Might be a while before anything happens though, since there are still two more books left to come out in the series, so you have plenty of time to read it!

  42. Lynn November 12, 2015 / 2:43 pm

I’m really looking forward to Beauty and the Beast! I haven’t read A Series of Unfortunate Events yet, but I keep hearing great things about it, so maybe I should!

    • iloveheartlandx November 12, 2015 / 6:38 pm

Me too! It is a great series. you definitely should give it a try!

  43. Petra November 12, 2015 / 3:20 pm

I’m agreeing with most of these. I’m especially excited over Unwind and ToG though. Both are some of my all time favorites. Great list. Thanks for sharing, and for stopping by my TTT earlier. πŸ™‚

    • iloveheartlandx November 12, 2015 / 6:38 pm

I’m especially excited over Unwind and Throne of Glass too as they are favourites of mine as well! Thanks! No problem!

  44. Tori @ InToriLex November 12, 2015 / 3:25 pm

It’s great to hear that unwind is in production, its one of my favorite books!! Thanks for stopping by my TTT!!!

    • iloveheartlandx November 12, 2015 / 6:37 pm

Mine too! I was so excited when I heard they were making a movie of it! No problem!

  45. Chachic November 12, 2015 / 3:26 pm

I also didn’t really love Mockingjay as a book but I’m still looking forward to the final movie adaptation! I love Beauty and the Beast too, so I’m also excited for the live action film. Have you considered reading fairy tale retellings based on that story? Just asking because I love retellings. πŸ™‚

    • iloveheartlandx November 12, 2015 / 6:36 pm

I think that seems to be the general feeling over Mockingjay! I think the films have been better though and I certainly enjoyed the first Mockingjay film more than the first half of the book, so I’m excited to see where they go with the second film! I have actually, it’s just a case of finding time to read them! I’ve had some great recommendations though, so I will definitely be picking up some Beauty and The Beast retellings in the future.
