I’m not doing very well at this whole getting their posts out on their respective days thing am I? Sorry about that guys, I was working at the stables until late last night and then I had to go to bed early because I had a training day for a potential job (fingers crossed!) and had to get up early. Hence the Wednesday post on a Thursday! Anyway, we are slowly but surely making our way through my Goodreads TBR (this is one post I never have to worry about running out of ideas for, because I have such a long and ever expanding TBR). It’s another already released book this week, one I’m really excited for, Every Breath by Ellie Marney.
Rachel Watts is an unwilling new arrival to Melbourne from the country. James Mycroft is her neighbour, an intriguingly troubled seventeen-year-old genius with a passion for forensics. Despite her misgivings, Rachel finds herself unable to resist Mycroft when he wants her help investigating a murder. And when Watts and Mycroft follow a trail to the cold-blooded killer, they find themselves in the lion’s den – literally.
A night at the zoo will never have quite the same meaning again…
I was hooked as soon as I read the synopsis for this book, it sounds like something that’s right up my alley, it’s a Sherlock retelling and whilst I haven’t read the original books (I will rectify this one day, I hope!), I have read Young Sherlock books and seen the TV Show and movies, so I know enough to know that I like the character, and the general idea of the stories. What is there not to love about two kids solving crime? I love murder mysteries, so the entire premise behind this book basically makes me want to squeal. Plus have I mentioned how much I love teenage geniuses? Love, love, love them! I haven’t really read many books set in Australia so I’m excited for that. I just love detective/mystery novels in general really, I like to see if I can follow the clues and work out the mystery before the characters do, I hardly ever do, but it’s fun trying! I love the idea of Watson as a girl too, although I have to say, I smell romance coming from the synopsis. I just hope it’s well done. Anyway, basically it sounds brilliant, I’ve read some really good reviews of it and I hope it’s as good as I think it’s going to be.
I’ll be posting my Thursday Quotables a little later on for you!
