Thanks for the great response to my Top Ten Tuesday post, I love reading all your lovely comments so keep it going! For this week’s Wishlist Wednesday, I have chosen to talk about the newest installment in The Princess Diaries series, Royal Wedding. It does not release until 2nd June, but it’s been on my wishlist for a while, and I’m really looking forward to seeing what Mia’s life is like now that she’s an adult.
From the #1 New York Times bestselling author of the Princess Diaries series, comes the very first adult installment, which follows Princess Mia and her Prince Charming as they plan their fairy tale wedding–but a few poisoned apples could turn this happily-ever-after into a royal nightmare.
For Princess Mia, the past five years since college graduation have been a whirlwind of activity, what with living in New York City, running her new teen community center, being madly in love, and attending royal engagements. And speaking of engagements. Mia’s gorgeous longtime boyfriend Michael managed to clear both their schedules just long enough for an exotic (and very private) Caribbean island interlude where he popped the question! Of course Mia didn’t need to consult her diary to know that her answer was a royal oui.
But now Mia has a scandal of majestic proportions to contend with: Her grandmother’s leaked “fake” wedding plans to the press that could cause even normally calm Michael to become a runaway groom. Worse, a scheming politico is trying to force Mia’s father from the throne, all because of a royal secret that could leave Genovia without a monarch. Can Mia prove to everyone–especially herself–that she’s not only ready to wed, but ready to rule as well?
I’m really excited for this book because it’s been years since I last read a Princess Diaries book, and I loved them when I was younger, but I’m also excited because this is an adult book, and I really want to see what Mia as an adult is like, and how much she’s changed from her teenage self, and how much she may still be the same. I also feel like I’ve grown up since I last read these books, so it will be quite interesting to return to them now that I am a little older and see if my opinion of the characters is stil the same. It’s fun to return to characters and worlds you once loved and see how much they have changed since you were last there, and this one is bound to be a fun read.
I will be back with another Wishlist Wednesday next week, but tomorrow is Thursday Quotables so look out for that.
